Who's going to win?

I'll take Texas 27-23. Ohio State won't stop the Texas running game which will allow McCoy time to make throws in the passing game. Sweed will make a few big catches again. Should be a great game. Despite having the edge at QB, I see weaknesses in Ohio State's defense. They gave up almost 200 yards rushing to Northern Illinois last weekend. And they have an entire new starting LB corp and had to replace some secondary spots. Texas defense brings 7 starters back from last season's top 10 defense.

Texas coach Mack Brown suspended starting CB Terrell Brown after he was arrested for possession of a firearm earlier this week. That will leave a hole at in the secondary. Brown was assigned the task of stoping Ted Ginn Jr, the Buckeyes top deep threat. With Brown out, the Horns faithful will need to keep an eye on Ginn and his defender. The Buckeyes just scored a major advantage with Brown out. However, I expect Michael Griffin to play deeper and try to keep Ginn from beating his man for long gains.

Texas
1-0 Overall / 0-0 Big 12

Ohio State
1-0 Overall / 0-0 Big 10

When: Saturday, Sept. 9; 7 p.m. CDT (presented by AT&T)
Where: Austin, Texas (Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium)
Tickets: SOLD OUT
Series: Texas leads 1-0
Last Meeting: Texas 25, Ohio State 22 (Sept. 10, 2005; Columbus, Ohio)

This game is as good an early season match up as you can get. The 2 top ranked teams. Should be a very close game.

The ground attack of the Horns versus the balanced attack of the Buckeyes. The offence's are pretty even, surprisingly so after the loss of Vince Young and Ramonce Taylor.

Even with the suspensions of the past week Texas still has the advantage on defence. Replacing that stellar OSU linebacker corp from last year is harder than I think Tressel and co thought it would be.

The only attribute that the Buckeyes have an advantage in is gamebreakers. Troy Smith may very well be this year's VY. Ted Ginn is a big play threat, that without Brown the Horns defence will have to play double coverage.

Final Score - UT 27 OSU 24

Beat down. I figured it was going to be a bad night when Texas fumbled on the 1 yard line and Ohio State went on to score a few plays later. And giving up that late TD right before half killed the momentum.

Three reasons why Texas lost:
1) turnovers
2) terrible secondary play
3) Mack Brown resorting to his old self with conservative play calls

as you can imagine, everyone in college station was really happy with this result. i didn't even know this game was on until i got a call from a friend (liverpool fan) at OSU screaming like a mad man.

I'm sure Aggie fans were enjoying the result. Of course, Aggie fans will always be in the shadow of UT and could only dream of building a national title contender (without the illegal recruiting and payoffs they got busted for in the mid 90s).
