How does it work?

Even if Nadal had beaten Djokovic in the final it would still be the Serbian who was ranked No. 1?

Also apparently till June next year Djokovic can pick up ZERO points?

What's this system?

Not in a nutshell either, hit me up! :lol:

Defenders/Champions points etc. etc.

Basically the points system is a yearly thing. You don't get extra points for defending a title or winning numerous times in a row, you can only defend the points you already carried over from last year, so use the Grand Slams for example.....since Djoko has won 2 and was semi in the other, he has like 4700....so he has match that to get the same points this time next year.

winning = 2000
runner up = 1200
semi = 700

so since he was RU at the US last year, he has 5900 points of his 13000 or whatever based from grand slams.

Than masters, of which there are 9 i believe, give you 1000 points for winning and well half the above. So doing well at them can quickly juice up your points.

It's a perfectly fine system and works well....it's not you can say the players who have been ranked 1 in the last 10 years didn't deserve it at the times...

The womens one is messed up, but thats more due to the fact that the WTA simply allow their players to drop out of their masters equivalent tournaments, not really to the points system, and the fact theres little talent there right now, especially consistent talent outside of Serena.

For the womens side I have a tennis wanking system.

It's quite a stupid system really. It would be better off if players weren't defending any points.

Nadal did well to lose just 1.4k points this year after his great summer last season.

Djokovic will do unbelievably well to get anything more than zero points next season.
