No game since has ever topped it and i doubt no game ever will.

And I agree, that and Goldeneye were nearly worn out.

Fantastic game; probably still shits on the other Zelda titles.

Roughly 10 (?) years ago, I got Final Fantasy 7. That is still by far the best game that I have ever played.

A classic never dies, ey? :D

This is the game I really did wear out and had to replace.

Goldeneye was far better IMO, always had a blast playing it at my cousin's.

And FF3 was the best.

Damn how could I forget that, ok Zelda is second to this. I have never played 2 better games than Shenmue I & II, gutted they never finished it off.

Keep the faith, there was a huge fanboy strike with many shenmue fans sending letters with shenmue figurines to Sega's HQ. Doubt it'll achieve anything but surely its too popular a franchise to simply forget about.

This was the most anticipated release when I was into my gaming (about 15 years ago, I think?) - it is my all time favorite video game:

That really was a great year for games. Standouts for me are FFVII and the genre defining Half Life.

Still, best game ever is FFVI, by quite some distance.

Best ever IMO.

I loved 1 and 2. Surprised there won't ever be a third. As for games that I totally loved. . .well, I clocked Super Metroid 4 or 5 times, I'd say it's my fav game, ever. Sensible Soccer was another game that I just couldn't put down.

I found all the Final Fantasy's and Zelda's extremely boring. I didn't like games like Street Fighter either.

Golden Eye was amazing though, i bought an N64 purely for it.

Was playing Twilight Princess earlier, since i never really got the chance to play it as i always said i'd avoid the Wii because it's too much of a gimmick (but the Nintendo in me recently gave in and i ended up buying it)

All the while i was playing i was thinking it was amazing, but at the same time, Ocarina Of Time just pissed on it in every way.

And i still think not enough people rate Final Fantasy X. Such and epic storyline, there was so much to it. I remember posting this before but i wish i played final Fantasy VII back when it was released. I have it on my PC right now, but i just can't stand playing with those graphics (where as i could play Ocarina Of Time again and again, which is weird.)

Not enough OoT loving in this thread. It made such an big impact on me and whole gaming world when it was released. It's head and shoulders over any other game in this thread imo.

I never really got into Final Fantasy, it was far too boring for me. I like Zelda's more action styled gameplay.

I felt the same. I actually thought Majoras Mask (

Fantastic gameplay > Graphics

I'm a big fan of X, it is probably my favourite behind 7. Great story line, great battles, great scenery and I found the battle system to be brilliant. Tidus could get slightly annoying, but aside from that it was a brilliant game.

You need to get VII for the PS1, you won't regret it;)

Majoras Mask i thought was brilliant as well! Fantastic concept, and I felt a bit more connected to some of the characters than i did in OoT (probably because you were basically in the one town for a large portion of the game, and there were a lot of quests based around the characters.)

For example, at one point i remember having to save a young girl from aliens. I failed, and the whole town reacted to it by crying etc. over the next two days of the time limit. It actually made me feel bad! (I actually hope to play this again soon now. Didn't play it nearly enough as i did OoT!)

Wind Waker was a much more light hearted but still enjoyable game.

A Link To The Past is another i can play again and again despite it being very dated. (And the fact that 2D graphics don't really hurt my eyes as much as dated 3D graphics)

Turbo? That's my fav beat'em, ever. I was always Ryu or M Bison.

If i remember correctly, you had to put in some ridiculous code to get the Turbo option on the original SNES game - feck knows why it wasnt just a standard option

I remember they made a really shite film based on the game - it had Van Damme and Kylie in it

Majora's Mask had a very dark tone to it and it was much harder than OoT. It also felt fresh with a new enemy as a change. The connection with the other characters was something i thought The Twillight Princess was badly missing.

If i had played Majora's Mask before Ocarina of Time then i probably would have loved it even more than OoT.
