bart

o'shea wes larry mickey

ole scholes fortune giggsy

ruud diego

although obviously saf is going to put seba in for diego :(

Based on instinct on how to beat the tip raiders, I'd go for the following (no shirt order for me):

1. Barthez
2. P Nev
3. JO'S
4. Wes
5. Mikhail
6. Midas
7. Seba
8. Wortha
9. Ole
10. La Maquina
11. Ryan

Pace, Power, Goals.

Hopefully prove way too much for the granny muggers.

100% agree with your formation and your opinion about seba.

Barthez

Brown
Blanc
Silvestre
O'Shea

Solskjaer
Veron
Scholes
Fortune
Giggs

Ruud

I'd play Forlan instead of Seba, but it won't happen.

I'm giving him his chance. ;)

I think that will be the back four, regardless of positions.

sorry liv, not meaning you, I just dont think this will be Gary's game, that's all. I'd be more confident with John in there. he's been a rock for us, a real plus point this season.

we keep waiting for Seba to spark off his united career with a moment of brilliance and carry on from there, but its not going to happen. Save him for CL games.

That's also the team I'd like to see on Sunday...but agree with you that Seba will be playing and Diego will be on the bench.

Seba should play. this is a big game. he must be aware of the history behind it and if his CL vs PL performances are anything to go by, he must just prefer "big" games. i have a good feeling that this will be the game he finally takes by the scruff of the neck and bosses.

i'd like to see:

Fab

Wes
JOS
Larry
Mickey

Diego
Scholes
Seba
Giggsy

Ole
Ruud

OR you could put Scholes just behind Ruud, put Ole on the right and swap Phil for Diego...either is fine <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

mainly because recently when he's been given a chance (Villa, Saints, Toon) he's done well, better than Seba atleast, so he deserves a place over him. Anyway, thats another debate, and a pointless one at that as SAF will almost certainly stick with Seba.

He hasnt done much wrong in a foreign position to him and although he has made a few mistakes, he's done a helluva better job in the midfield holding role than seba has. we shouldnt be tinkering with a winning team to suit one player who we keep hoping is going to produce some moment of magic. I will support seba if and when he plays, and he is vital to the big picture (the cl) but when we have better options i'd prefer to use them. I will hold my hand up if seba turns in a good game (I have been one of his biggest supporters since he arrived, and continue to hope he does well, as he's a cracking player and seems like a geniune bloke) and goes on a good run this season, but I cant see it happening at unfilled.

I'd go with Diego because even if he doesn't score goals, I think there's a good chance he'll have an impact on a game. He didn't score against Newcastle but he created goals for us. Also with his pace and movement, he created space for Ruud and others so they could score goals. Also, I'd like to see him play because you can always count on him to work hard for the team and to do whatever's asked of him.

I'd drop Seba and play him in the Champions League matches where he's shined for us. I had hoped that the one silver lining with Keano's injury would be Seba's emergence in the league. Unfortunately, it just hasn't happened for him. And I think at some point you do need to start giving other players a chance.

I think the team that trashed Newcastle deserves another chance. Seba will probably play instead of Forlan tho. :(

Because I think he is likely to have more effect than Seba. If it's a quick game we need someone who can move/think quick.

agreed Gazza ;)

Bart
G.Neville
Larry
Wes
Silvestre
Ole
Seba
Scholes
Fortune
Giggs
Ruud
SAF Has been raving about the holding role that Fortune has been doing I also think he will give John a rest after hearing his comments on Tuesday.
Personally I would play the following
Bart
G.Neville
Wes
Silvestre
O'shea
Plenty of pace in the middle as I fear Owen against Blanc
Ole
Fortune
Veron
Scholes
Giggs
Fortune to play the holding role allowing Scholes and Seba to support Ruud.Ole has impressed me on the right in Beckhams abscence.
Ruud
He will hold the ball up and with Giggs and Ole able to float in and support I feel we will have the power.

You know the major injuries, Nicky Butt, Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham. Michael
Stewart is OK, Gary Neville is OK. We still have some doubts at this moment
regarding Laurent Blanc. We will have to wait until to make a decision. All the
players that played against Basel are OK and will be fit to play Liverpool.

Newcastle and Basel were two great games, two great results. It was special
because the wrong approach would be to spend time crying because one or two
players - important players though they are - cannot play. We have to work with
the players that are ready to play.

The players are confident they can do it, and they are committed to playing well
and getting a good result. As we saw against Newcastle and Basel, the team
worked well - we saw a team working together, supporting each other with the
full commitment in the game. Everybody has worked hard to bring the results that
we expect. That is why we are confident to play against Liverpool.

We are sure that we have a team working together with the desire, the right
desire to bring the result back from Liverpool. We are ready to play good
football - we have the quality to do it, we are doing OK. If we approach this
game playing good quality football we are sure that we can do it better than
Liverpool. That is why we are sure we will come back with a positive result from
Liverpool.

Enjoy the game

Carlos Queiroz

when we played Liverpool, in both games last season, seba did well.

1. In the defeat at Anfield, one of the only bright moments was watching him totally and utterly humiliate Steven Gerrard. Gerrard lunged in studs up, Seba skipped up (with the ball), landed on his feet beside SG and looked down on him with this perplexed expression. top man.

2. Match at OT, Seba played well. As, in fact, did the whole midfield. We bossed that match, if you remember, and the granny muggers nicked it.
The one who played terribly that night was RVN, who was obviously tired.

Not on sunday!

Looking back at this thread, I feel we are extremely lucky to have Veron out. If Veron has been fit, SAF would definitely play him and Diego would be the most likely player who would have made way for him. If that really happened, the whole match would have been totally different. That's not concidence, one of the reasons we won the latest two big games is because of our team and formation. This team is much more well balanced and suit the battling nature of PL than our 4-5-1 formation used earlier this season.
