G. Neville Ferdinand O'Shea Silvestre

Beckham Butt Veron Giggs

Forlan Solskjaer

If Seba and Nicky are still wounded, the midfield should line-up like this imo:

Chadwick Beckham Stewart Giggs

Perfect time to put blood O’Shea in to the CL, as well as give Gary and Chadwick their first starts for ages.

------------------- Ricardo ----------------------

------------ Rio ------------ O'Shea -------------

-- PNev ------------- Butt ---------- Silvestre --

----------- Beckham --------- Veron --------------

--- Forlan ---------------------------- Giggs ----

---------------------- RVN -----------------------

He won't start Gaz
Larry will definately play
And I guess part the reason Veron didn't play today was for this game.
Barthez
John, Rio, Larry ,Mickel
David, Nicky, Seba, Ryan
Ruud ,Ole

Carroll
Neville G.
O'Shea
Rio
Silvestre
Giggs
Butt
Becks
Forlan
Ruud
Ole

Surely Gary Nev. might be fit for half a game at least?

Yeah, I expect Ferguson to start with Blanc and Phil as opposed to O’Shea and Gary, I was just stating the team I would like to see out there.

So would this be 433 with Ole and Diego in withdrawn roles ? I remember when Ferguson used to alternate between 442 and 433 to good effect, most notably in the Treble year. Considering our lack of central-midfielders it may be worth giving it a go.

Veron is obviously a doubt as he has a groin strain but I reckon it will line up pretty much like that despite the fact we will have no strikers on the bench unless of course he brings in a youngster.

(Funnily enough someone else mentioned this to me earlier :D )

i say let Giggs partner RVN upfront, Silvestre will play n Giggs' intial position,,,,,with ole as the deadly weapon f things didn't work,,,,becoze bringing in Forlan, is not the way to rescue games.

Tareq - you've just pointed out in another topic Ole's "shortage" of goals as a sub.

Let's not forget that Ruud came on as a sub against Villa and worked wonders.

Livvie : not questioning ole's abilities, but the idea of bringing n forlan to try to rescue a game is not working at least untill now.

why no Ruud?

Fabien
O'Shea-Rio-Blanc-Mickey
Becks-Seba-Stewart-Giggs
Ole/Ruud-Diego

If gary is fit then put him in for O'Shea. I'd play either Ole or Ruud with Diego but the problem is both Ruud an Ole are (i think) one goal away from scoring a shit load but Diego needs the pitch time.
Michael Stewart's performances for Scotland U21's have deserved him the chance. Give Nicky a rest, the injury looked worrying so if he's not 100% don't risk him. The last thing we need is another central midfielder out.

A rest you must be joking
We need him he was the only one who looked like scoring today I thought his performance was full of promise signifying a return to form

I don't understand why you are all so kean to drop Larry? I think he's one cool customer whose complete calm in and around the box has saved us many a time. I can understand if his pace worries some but he more than makes up for it with his positioning and reading of the game.

Larry has done us a great service, but I would like to see John and Rio moulded together over the coming months to form our CB partnership for the next decade. :) Ruud should be given a rest because we wont get a better chance to give him a break - he'll be playing two games a week for a while, perhaps some as a lone Striker. Also, we have to give Forlan some games.

No time for rests in the C/L I'm sure Ruud would snaarl at the thought

I'm pretty sure SAF wont hesitate to rest Ruud if need be. Remember Arsenal at OT last season ? <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

And what was the score ??? One of our rare nils last season as I remember.Plus we had four strikers then

And in effect we still only had three, as Yorke was doing feck all. When can we give Forlan a chance if not now ?

Not in the Champions League you know it won't happen so why harp on about it.
Going back to the Arse game you never know what diff Ruud might have made.

Maybe if Butt isn't fit
Otherwise it will be the obvious
I think he took Ruud off today with Wednesday in mind.

I think Diego will start and imo he would operate best in the scholes role of last season playing between the midfield and behind ruud

Agree with you about RVN. I thought this was one of his better matches of late and I think both he and Ole just need one goal to get going. Was disappointed he was subbed. I was hoping
Diego would get on... But personally I would have taken Chadwick off and had 3 strikers.

Diego wouldn't start if we so had 25 injuries.

;)

The team will probably be the same as started against Leeds. Unless Veron's available or Butt's unavailable. Like it or not.

Interesting Weaste. I also thought a variation in formation could be what we need.
