I suspect that Australia might be unchanged but England will surely bring in Panesar and that specialist keeper (forgotten his name) with Giles and ???? making way.

Maybe

Jones

Talk of bringing macgill in so aus have two spinners. Not sure how they can leave either Lee or clark out though

I suspect Anderson will make way for Monty.

Go with two spinners.

I'd agree with that, after the fist day I was thinking Harmisson but he started to get better if not getting the wickets. Anderson was too irratic. Basically we lost the test on the first two days and it was a struggle, we did bat better in the second innings so some hope provided the bowlers start performing.

One thing I'm increasingly worried about is Freddie as Capt, not that he's not a good one I just think he's got far too much to think of being an all rounder and captain?

Totally agree. Crazy decision not making Strauss captain.

Mind you, Strauss needs to start performing, sharpish, else we're fecked

Well, we are fecked anyway...but still

Adealaide's wicket has changed a bit recently and doesn't spin quite as much as it used to and the quicks have done well this season. If anyone is going to get dropped form the Aussie team I reckon it will be Lee out for MacGill.
I reckon Anderson was the worst of the English bowlers and Monty will come in to the team, I'd push Pietersen up the order a bit too.

He started well in the first innings but he like too many others seems to be making a start then bang..! Must admit I'm impressed with how Bell's improved at this level and I was happier yesterday as they seemed to be getting their act together. The real turning point was Freddie getting out which I think just killed any slim / miniscule chance we had have batting through for a draw.

I like the Pietersen / Collingwood 4-5 partnership With Freddie at six, it's really the bowling I'm more worried about..!

If England drop Anderson then they are left with 2 quicks in Hoggard and Freddie. You would hope Monty has the game of his life otherwise you will be relying on Freddie to take 15 wickets in the match to be a chance of winning.

Australia should be unchanged in my opinion. Never change a winning team.

Monty for Giles. The english need Strauss and Flintoff to hit form with the bat to stand a chance

Well, Harmy still exists...just about

He doesnt count.
Its insulting to quicks all around the world if he is put in the same class as them.

Yeah i thought that, but then whos that extra bowler going to be...somone who is gonna take wickets, or just bowl for the sake of it... because we got collingwood who can give the bowlers a breather, and panesar will happily bowl the whole day for you

This would be my team for the second test:

1. Strauss
2. Cook
3. Bell
4. Pietersen
5. Collingwood
6. Joyce
7. Flintoff
8. Jones
9. Mahmood
10. Hoggard
11. Panesar

What do you guys think?
3 quicks, a spinner and medium pacer. They need 2 spinners in Adelaide
It will be
Strauss
Cook
Bell
Collingwood
Pietersen
Flintoff
Jones
Giles
Hoggard
Harmi
Monty

didnt know that, and i follow KP closely :smirk:

he should bat 3, all the best batsmen have batted 3
I would say 4 with Joyce at 3, I dont like Bell, when you really need him, like the second innings, he lets you down. I would like Mahmood to bowl but he isnt nasty enough, he should be a real handful but isnt

Id give Mahmood a chance because hes young and exciting, just like Panesar...Harmison needs to be taught a lesson and dropped. his performance in the last test was shocking
It was, but he didnt have the worst figures in the match, Anderson did

I'd basically drop Giles and Anderson and put in Mahmood and Panesar. Pietersen is good enough to be utilised as a second spinner, while Mahmood's pace will always be a handful in Australia. Plus he is much better in tests than in one-dayers and

Go with this:

1. Strauss
2. Cook
3. Bell
4. Pietersen
5. Collingwood
6. Flintoff
7. Jones
8. Mahmood
9. Hoggard
10. Harmison
11. Panesar

The press seems to think that McGill won't be back this test because Adelaide is a bit crap for spinners. Warne doesn't like it and McGill has tes figure of 44 runs per wicket.

Lee's figures weren't that great and there is room for improvement but he did actually bowl quite well.

Sorry to say, but we have now lost the initiative in this series.

The Aussies are psychologically well on top, and England look like a defeated team.

Ponting is still hurting from losing the ashes over here, and he is out to make a point, we're going to get our arses kicked big-time.

What odds an Aussie whitewash? :(

Yeah sorry bout that. A mate was messing with me. Aussies with an unchanged squad.

McGrath's a doubt for the second test. Only managed five overs in the nets today and faces a test tomorrow. Deja Vu, he missed the 2nd test in the last Ashes and we know what happened then.
Forecast for Adelaide is possible light showers late Friday and Saturday morning, possible cloud on Sunday. This might suit England as Adelaide has been known to produce reverse swing.

I'm optimistic, if no one else is. :wenger:
