Rest Phil, Rio, Scholes and Veron - we are about to embark on four games which could decide our fate this term, and if we lost any one of these players we'd be up shit creek.

Like the idea of Timm, Richardson etc. going up against quality (ahem) opposition. Chadwick and Fortune also need action. Where's Fletcher and Stewart? Injured?

I don't think Rio need another rest -- he just returns from injury. If we don't play at least a few first team player we have absolutely no chance to win.

i think Stewart should have injured, because he didn't play in the reserve recently. Please correct if I'm wrong.

MY PREDICTED TEAM:

--------------------Carroll----------------------

--Roche-----Bardsley--------Tate----------Tierney

Chadwick----Fletcher------Richardson------Pugh--

------------Nardiello-----Forlan-----------------

MY PREFERED TEAM:

Well I would prefer full strength, but then again I would want to rest a few:

--------------------Carroll----------------------

--Roche------O'Shea--------May--------P.Neville--

--Chadwick----Fletcher-----Scholes------Fortune--

-------------Solskjær-----Forlan-----------------

Subs:

Ricardo
Bardsley
Richardson
Timm
Nardiello

I think we will see a side similar to this:
Code:
---------------------Carroll---------------------

---Roche-------O'Shea-------May--------Silvestre-

-Chadwick------Fortune--P.Neville(C)--Richardson-

-----------------------Scholes-------------------

------------------Forlan-------------------------

Subs:

Steele
Thierney
Pugh
Fletcher
Nardiello

Leicester game

"It will be a strong mix, we'll look to play a decent side. The problem has been that in recent years we've had away draws to Aston Villa, Arsenal and Sunderland, all difficult ties. They all played their strong sides except for Arsenal who still had nine internationals out. This year we're at home, Leicester will bring a big crowd, it will be a good cup tie atmosphere and we'll play a strong side."

As Ferguson states, he will play a mixture of reserves and senior players. We were outclassed last year against Arsenal and it seemed humiliating but I hope as always each year that we have a good run in the competition.

Yes, I also agree that it will be mixture of reserves and senior players. Playing at home with at least 5 senior players should be able to produce a fair chance to beat Lecister.

Given that we had 10 internationals against Maccabi I'm not too confident.

It's all about coordination and the will to win really.

I can't believe this competition is still going. The sooner it's scrapped the better.

i don't recon schols should be in the team at all,hes done so well and has hardly missed a game since hes been back. remember he played against maccabi haifa in our weakened team,we'll need him for the big games that are coming up. the usual top guns should be rested aswell:

ferdinand
van nistelrooy
veron
becks
giggs
scholes
g.neville
barthez
silvestre

There's confidence for you. Or maybe you just aren't bothered if we win or not.

Personally, I want to see us put in a good performance in every game regardless of the result. So I would hope to see a few "stars" in there.

Squad

R Carroll, Ricardo; L Roche, G Neville, P Neville, D May, J O'Shea, R Ferdinand, M Silvestre; K Richardson, D Pugh, P Scholes, Q Fortune, M Timm, P Tierney; D Forlan, OG Solskjaer, D Nardiello, R Van Nistelrooy

quite strong

the worthless merry go round will continue, we'll lose at home and the friggin Bee Gees will score the winner. imagine the look on Barry Gibb's face. pity dennis wise got sacked, it would have been nice to see him get beaten to death and run over by a mob of frenzied wheelchair supporters.

At last Ferguson decides to take this competition seriously. How many of the big guns do you think will start, I think it will be half senior and then the rest reserves and youth. Hope we win and have a good cup run, even if we win it I will be please as I have never devalued this competition, especially with the history around it, its time we won it again.

Sir Alex Ferguson says that people will be surprised at his team selection for Tuesday night's Worthington Cup match against Leicester City.

Talking to MUTV, the Boss confirmed that a strong team would face the Foxes, with some up-and-coming players in for good measure. Here's what he said:

Strong team

"Going back over the years, Sunderland away I thought we played very well and were unlucky to lose that game. That was the case was Aston Villa as well. Last year against Arsenal they played a much stronger team than ours and although the boys enjoyed it they were well beaten 4-0. Now we've got a home draw and I think it's fair to say we want to progress into the next round. On two counts - winning is always important and in fairness to Worthington. They put a lot into the game and deserve us to show the right spirit in the Cup. We've tried to do that over the last few years, but away draws have made it difficult for us. We'll play quite a strong side tomorrow."

Youngsters' chance

"We've given the youngsters a chance in this competition over the last decade. It's been very successful for us - the young players who have played have enjoyed it and it's brought them on a stage. John O'Shea, for instance, played against Niall Quinn, who's a handful for anyone, two years ago. He acquitted himself really well and it proved to be the stepping stone he needed."

Fans important

"Leicester will bring quite a few fans with them - it's a big game for them of course. Particularly with the financial situation they're in they'll be desperate to progress."

Micky Adams

"Micky Adams has done a good job. They had a terrific performance at the weekend down at Portsmouth who are at the top of the First Division."

Missing experience

"If you look at the weakness in our set-up, it's come about after losing players like Denis Irwin and Ronny Johnsen. That's a big void, losing that experience. It's a balancing act, but we'll be playing quite a strong side. Some of the fans might be quite surprised."

Rest of the season

"Hopefully we can make sure we continue our drive towards the top of the League. The second stage of the Champions League is there for us, and the FA Cup starts in January. There's a lot of football for us to play, and hopefully it will be football that means something."

David Beckham

"He's not been given any time off. He's been in training today and he's in the squad for tomorrow's game. I don't think resting him is the thing to do, he's happy being occupied with his football. That's the thing that he loves most of all. But obviously the events of the last two days have been traumatic and it's a great concerm for us. It makes you aware of what life is like these days. The responsibility to make sure security is one hundred percent falls heavily on our shoulders.

"If we felt it was a necessity we would give him time off, but at this moment in time there's no danger. It's all under control, the police have done a great job and therefore we'll get back to the football."

Wes Brown

"Wes Brown is in football training, we're looking to organise a Reserve game for him this week or next week, he's not far away and we're very pleased with that. Once he gets his first game he'll be back in the squad and that will give us an extra player that we really do need."

Roy Keane

"It's not a setback as such, we're just making sure we do the right thing by him. After that type of operation - not one that's done every week - we need to get things right. Fifteen years ago we never heard of these injuries, but cruciate knee operations are treated very well and we've had a spate of them with Roy, Ljungberg at Arsenal and Fowler at Leeds. We have to take our time with it."

Ruud van Nistelrooy

"Ruud welcomed being back, and he did very well for us. We'll decide whether to use him on Tuesday or to give him a full week's training before the Manchester City Derby game."

Hope Timm get a run out ...

If Nardiello play then that will almost mean he's currently our 4th striker and Fergie really looks up to him ... His good show during the Cyprus game hasn't harm any ... Although Webber's injury and Davis absence might help that ...

It's not gonna to be shown here ( why are they showing Totenham game instead gosh ) ... so you guys better post some thread on the game yeah ...
