Team Tuppet/KM
Batting:
One of the finest T20 allrounder of all time Shane Watson (retired as number 1 allrounder in ICC rankings) starts a deep batting line up with Alex Hales. 2 fast and furious openers which can give any bowling lineup a run around especially in these conditions.
Watson in particular is known to have highest twenty20 international strike rate of all opening batsmen who have played over 30 matches. While Hales was part of one of the most successful T20 opening partnership with Lumb.
Following them is Raina, who (his current form non withstanding) is one of the most successful batsmen in T20 and particularly in IPL.
At his peak he was dependable while also boasting highest strike rate in the IPL history and was at a point highest run scorer in champions league T20 tournament.
Following this solid start our batting line up goes to T20 expert batsmen -
Samuel, Bailey, Lynn, Taylor and Russell. Their strike rates of 119.19, 135.74, 143.66, 121.66 and 165.71) speaks for themselves. On a batsmen friendly pitch this line up can dismantle even the best of bowling attacks.
Bowling:
We have probably one of the better bowling attacks in this draft.
While the conditions are not favorable for bowlers in this game, it actually makes the bowling more crucial and it could turn out to be the decider in a batsmen dominated game.
In Watson, Malinga, Steyn & Russell we have 4 brilliant fast bowlers. Bowling attack is spear headed by probably the best modern T20 bowler in Lasith Malinga.
A world cup winning captain and with 299 wickets in 221 games he is the highest wicket taker in all T20 matches. He would look to get some early wickets, while returning at death to restrict the opposition. Incidentally his fastest ball was tied for 4th fastest among active bowlers, a record he shares with his team mate Dale Steyn.
Steyn is widely regarded as the best fast bowler of his generation. Even on a flat pitch him, Watson and Malinga with their accurate bowling could make the difference of few valuable runs which could decide the match in our way.
Supporting these 3 we also have Russell who is one of the best fast bowling allrounder and would provide another option if things don’t go as per plan with other bowlers.
For slow and spin bowling,
we have Amit Mishra, a consistent and useful wicket taker esp in IPL. He was the first bowler to take 3 hat tricks in IPL history. He is supported by Samuels, Raina and Bailey. We have a pretty diverse and potent bowling attack and pretty sure that would make a huge difference in this game.
