Switzerland (s)watch

Hope the likes of them or Austria pull of a Greece

I mean, let's be honest, I know none of my friends from the mountains would mention this, especially not in an English forum - they are far too modest: Of course the semi-final will be Switzerland vs Austria.

And there they will fight about the same things they fought 1000 years ago, maybe Habsburg style? ;) Of course they wouldn't tell anyone. But the connoisseur would know. Isn't that great? But one thing is guaranteed: when these two meet in the semi-final: get your damn popcorn ready!!

I will shed a tear for you when Wald Weghurst crushes your Austrian brothers under his size 93 boot.

This Swiss team low key has terrific spine: Sommer, Akanji, and Xhaka are world class players. Just missing a clinical attacker or two, perhaps Ndoye can eventually grow into that.

Yes I have been impressed by the Swiss. If Ndoye clicks against England, through they are to the semis.

Should've had more of a go in extra time. Did they genuinely not have a single player on the bench who is quick they could've stuck on the right as we saw the oceans of space when they were getting crosses in from the left.

Ndoye was hit and miss today but I'd have kept him on a bit longer.

They played at such a low pace, never really committed to going at England, but any time they did they looked a threat, played reputation rather than the reality of what England are.

The forwards were a bit too flakey for me. Embolo did well holding it up and got his goal but Vargas didn't do much and Ndoye looked as likely to put it into Row Z as do something useful, an absolute headless chicken. That let them down today, I expected them to cause a makeshift back 3 more issues. Apart from that a solid team, just individual quality when it came down to pens.
