Sverre Nypan | Norwegian media: United out of the race

It aint City. Wrong type of profile for them.

99% Sure its to us. Nice.
Norwegian media has been saying for a couple of weeks that we are out of the race and they hardly make up stuff like English tabloids. Keep in mind he got the same agent as Haaland, so have good relationship with City already.

I would prefer Walle Egeli. But Man Utd probably prefer to buy him later from Serie A for a huge fee.

How on earth is this fair.

So he signs for City but goes on loan to a city owned club?

That’s total bollocks, when we were blocked signing Todibo too - slightly different scenario’s considering playing in the same tournaments, but still

Interestingly, a Norwegian media that loves hyping up talent have been more or less radio silent on him the last year.

I have no idea where this supposed reputation he has is coming from.

Translation:
Sverre Nypan is not going to visit Manchester United. City only, as mentioned by Romano. Nothing settled yet.

But United are definitely out of the race for the Rosenborg jewel as mentioned earlier

I can't even begin to understand this. This was about as much as a gimme as I've ever seen.

1. Played against us and looked technically special. Check.
2. Sent scouts repeatedly thereafter. Check.
3. Manchested United fanatic. Check.
4. City get him.

Am I to believe that our scouts looked at him the whole time and didn't see the value of purchasing with a loan back.............but City's scouts saw it and don't mind taking a small risk for a small fee that he'll make it.

We should be all over deals like this. We don't mind throwing money at Vivell's randos, but apparently don't have enough to secure very high ceiling talent.

To be fair to him, he has shown remarkable consistency for his age. And especially in the second half of the season he emerged as one of the best players in the league. All this at 17 while barely training due to niggling injuries and load management. He's more standout due to maturity and consistency rather than Ødegaard who toyed with adult players at 15 - which obviously raises more eyes. The lack of hype could also be because he hasn't made it to the NT yet and that there are loads of Norwegian players to hype at the moment for a change (Nusa, Bobb etc behind the well-known superstars).

United are in the business of selling young talent at this moment. :annoyed:

To be fair most clubs are nowadays.

city just sold one of the worlds best young strikers in julien alvarez.

As long as we keep bringing them in, I don't see the problem with selling those that are surplus to requirements.

Where in the hell were we when he ran the show against us during preseason? How could we not have moved there and then and offered a loan back?

It's that simple!

It’s very difficult to be proactive in the transfer market when you have such a cash flow problem.

Sounds like he just got better offers as well, I think people place too much emphasis on a player supporting a club.

Losing Garnacho.
Missing out on Nypan.
No doubt we'll be back in for Weghorst this time next week.
What a time

Whislt all very true indeed, we've been heavily scouting this kid the entire time that EtH has been slapping his big spending balls on the transfer table! It's not as though, with all the money that EtH has spent, and wasted, that 10m couldn't have been set aside from a low risk, high yield kid.

And why would we indeed!

Who would want a player that City and Arsenal scouts deem an interesting talent?
Ask the people who decided not to pursue him, I don't know. Maybe we have similar if not better prospects coming through the youth team and didn't want to want money or block the pathway.

I know but I think that will change going forward, I suspect there will be more money spent on this type of signing rather than such vast sums spent on likes of Antony and Casemiro.

We missed out on Bergvall last January because we were skint and may well be same scenario but Nypan may well have preferred City and Arsenal as options.

Arsenal and City chasing him. Nypan's hardly not going to be worth the modest fee we would have to pay Rosenborg.

How on earth have we decided against this deal?

United have been, and probably still would be, interested in signing Nypan for a good while.

It is however, Nypan and his team that has decided against a deal with United because of the club’s situation these days.
At least that’s what the usually well informed norwegian journalists say.

Ah fair enough. The lad clearly has some intelligence or people around him who knows what's best for his career.

you’d have thought our experiences with hojlund would be enough to convince most fans we should stay away from young finns.

United are very busy scouting for an aquiring talent, its sometimes just not the popular one from youtube. And honestly some talent have better options in a significantly more stable environments than Manchester United does currently. City have had Oscar Bobb come trough and obviously they have Haaland. Arsenal have the national team captain. Both massive assets to consider when you move to a team from the same league they once played in. United sold their most recent Norwegian talent without ever having gotten a shot at first team football here. And we are struggling so badly. Its just a very noisy environment to develop in.
