Transfer news Sunderland send 'Asamoah Gyan for sale' email to top clubs EXCLUSIVE - News - MirrorFootball.co.uk
Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is ready to sell star striker Asamoah Gyan - after the Ghanaian hit man's name was circulated to clubs yesterday.

The African striker could be sold in the summer to raise money for more new players - even after the departure of Jordan Henderson to Liverpool in a £20 million deal.

Gyan's availability was flashed to leading Premier League clubs - and outfits abroad - as the surprise player in a list of 'for sale' talent sent out by an agent close to the club.

Bruce signed Gyan for a stunning £15 million from French side Rennes a year ago and he paid him back with ten goals in a season that fizzled out for the Black Cats.

There is no price on Gyan's head on the e-mailed list, but inquiries have to be made via the North East agency that has put round their list of players to move.

The news will come as a shock to Sunderland's fans who have seen Henderson go and are awaiting the arrival of several new faces as Bruce builds a new team.

This seems stupid, Brucie only has one good striker and he's putting him up for sale?

I bet the email asked all interested clubs to send them their bank details and their mothers' maiden names. That Steve Bruce, he's always up to this sort of stuff on his little laptop.

Somehow I doubt it.
Even if it is true, its not like Bruce wants to sell his best players. Either the player wants out or the board want to cash in

There wont be a shortage of takers if it is true thats for sure, Arsenal could do a lot worse for a start and we all know happy arry likes a transfer.

If 'Arry was interested, I'd forgive him this one. Would be a perfect signing, exactly what they need.

If you send this to 5 people someone will hug you.
If you send this to 10 people someone will kiss you.
If you send this to 15 people someone will tell you they love you.
If you send this to 20 people we will throw in Bramble as well...

Not even sure who'd want him. He'd be a good squad option at big clubs but nothing more than that. I could only imagine Spurs showing an interest - once they've failed to sign their unrealistic targets.

Yea, he's better than what Spurs have.

It wouldn't surprise me considering Bent was sold in January and Henderson just recently, as that is the case it is probably time for Bruce to move on as it is clear he cannot build a team there if his star players are all poachable - they would not have had such an awful run last year if Darren Bent was still there.

I love Gyan, he's also a huge Manutd fan.

Looks great sometimes but tries to many tricks and flicks for my liking - also shoots from absolutley anywhere instead of bringing other players into play.

Needs to use his loaf a bit more if he wants to play for a top club.

The crucial part:

as the surprise player in a list of 'for sale' talent sent out by an agent close to the club.

So, it wasn't sent by Sunderland. feckin' Mirror.

Top 50 player. No way they're selling.

Shocking that transfer gossip from a paper like mirror would seem stupid.

Seems like they're consolidating their position at the bottom of the credibility pile following the Iniesta to City fairytales.

I got that e-mail too... But it was from some guy in Nigeria that not only wanted to sell me Gyan, but was offering me his fortune if I gave him my bank information... Nice chap, can't wait to be a millionaire!

Bruce wouldn't of done that because transfers are not made via e-mail. You'd call the managers.

Think Spurs would enjoy his services though.. Spurs have been very quiet this transfer period with the exception of Modric... Very suspicious...
