To help our defense, it's time Keane is permanently moved to CB (playing as a sweeper in some games). O'Shea is set at LB and this means Brown and Silvestre are backups. Ferdinand and Gazza are the other two defenders of course. I don't think SAF would sell Gazza or Phil, who has proven to be the most valuable sub this season. Mexes should be brought in, and Silvestre might be sold in 2004.

Scholes and Veron will start in midfield. Butt will stick around, but I feel Fortune is out to make room for Fletcher (a star in 3-4 years). Giggs will stay at LW, but I do believe Becks is on his way to Spain or Italy for 30-40m, with a possible young wing in exchange. Chadders will make a permanent move somewhere too. United will bring in a player to groom as a future wing (Quaresma?). I believe Ole will play RW, unless United bring in a top class RW (Kewell, or does he play LW?). RVN upfront and look for two forwards to arrive (preferrably Cisse and Ronaldhino) if United decide to use Ole at RW.

As for GK, not sure if Barthez will move on or stick around. I'd love to see Friedel here (personal bias, but would be a good move too) or perhaps Martyn, maybe Robinson. Retain Lopez and Carroll to challenge the incoming GK. I like Barthez, but United have not won much with him in net. Not his fault, totally.

What are your opinions/speculations?

GK- Barthez (Friedel/Robinson), Lopez, Carroll
FB- Gazza, O'Shea, Silvestre, Phil
CB- Ferdinand, Keane, Brown, Mexes
WM- Giggs, Ole/Kewell, Quaresma/Duff, Richardson
CM- Veron, Scholes, Butt, Fletcher
ST- RVN, Ronaldhino, Cisse/Ole, Forlan

I would be of the opinion tht Quersma is on his way to OT and Becks looks like he is out. Even bloody sky news did a feature on him moving to Spain, it's collasal. The fact he hasn't denied it makes me believe he will leave.

Kewell plays LW or up front, not RW.

Nigel Martyn is 36 and hasn't played all season.

I think we need a replacement for Keane as midfield general if he is to move back to centre back.

Dunno who is gettable that an do the job though.

baraja could do the job... if valencia finish behind celta vigo he may be up for sale...

one of the few midfielders in the world that could improve that midfield

hey, preaching to the converted here. I[m a huge fan of Baraja and have been campaigning for him in my own small way. top notch player. still not sure if Valencia would sell him. But I guess if they did they would not want to sell him to another Spanish team.

Agreed, looking at the top midfielder's of today, Baraja is the one that springs to my mind too. Not heard us linked with him though. :(
