Glazer get to a after drink brawl with Shittu, bot
With Fergie committing to another couple of years, guess no one will doubt that he gonna build up his very own "dream" team ... And with a few players set to leave in the summer and above ALL, the most mouth-watering MAN UTD No.9 jersey up for grabs ... you and me could/should expect an eventful summer in transfer market no doubt !! ;)

Has been already a lot of talk so far ... but mind you I am actually not looking at any SUPER BIG names coming in ... so if you mention Zidane/Rivaldo etc you won't excite me a bit ... Yet, young and upcoming should be the key !! Below are some already on everybody's lips .. and I am crossing my fingers - hopefully at least a few come :

Hofland (top)
Mexes
Bridge
Van Bommel (as I said before, if "V" really goes)
Cisse (top)
Vassell
Beatie

Mind you I am not writing off our youths ... in fact if Fletcher example could come out and do a Van Bommel I will be much much happier then anybody else !!! ... but touching my heart, I don think any of the youngsters ( except those already given some exposure in O'Shea & Chadder ) are ready just yet ... No, not in the current matured Man Utd team ... unless something drastic really happen in the 1st team.

There's this thing actually spinning round my mind for quite a while now ... What you think if the management one day decide to ship Robinson/Nardiello/Timm/Fletcher to join up with Tate at Antwerp !!? ... I think one season will do ... The day they step back to OT will be the day when they are ready for the BIG thing ...

It's really only a "dream team" because it's so unrealistic First of all 3 of the players from the list (Bridge, Vassell, Beatie) we just don't need. And then 2 of them (Van Bommel, Cisse) aren't going to come anyway. In realistic I think we can get Hofland, and I hope we can also get one more defender and one more forward.

Players I'd like to see at United:

1. Cisse - Along with Saviola, simply the top young striker out there.

2. Contra - As a midfielder. Wonderfull technical/creative/attacking skills. Would be almost like having a Giggzy on the right (but not quite). Would be fantastic with Seba.

3. Tihinen - Highly rated central defender nicknamed "The Iron Mountain" for his battling and brave style of play. Would be significantly cheaper than Hofland.

4. Carr - The solution to United's RB inconsistencies. Excellent defender and set piece taker. Would be amazing if he could remain healthy.

5. Mexes - Classy/intelligent young central defender. Can score/is good in the air, in addition to being a technically solid defender. A future superstar imo.

6. Kallstrom - Big physical central midfielder. Still only 19. Possible successor to the great Roy Keane.

7. Ashton - Top young striker with exceptional passing and finshing skills. One to watch for WC 2006. Would be an excellent replacement for Yorke, even though Liverpool have first refusal on him.

Others I would like to take a closer look at:

Mourad Meghni
Christian Chivu
Hugo Viana
Leandro Romagnoli
Nathan Ellington
Kevin Townson

i think fergie realises that our youth academy is on the wane, so that is his priority, getting rid of dead wood!, wallwork, maybe culkin etc..

so the likes of fletcher, richardson, timms etc.. make the step up into the reserves.

and also buy (if we already haven't) potential future w/class beaters to take their place in the setup, maybe someone like mourad meghini, or that kid who is 16 and compared to ronaldo etc...
also the next roy keane, he maybe will have to be from UK or ireland, to have the doggidnes, drive, passion and rough edge about them, like keano.

May be a little out of topic: I wonder what our academy is doing, since there is no youngsters in midfield or forward break through since the Beckham-generation, and that's already five or six years ago. Not only there is no player who can give pressure to the current midfield, there is even no young player who can at least be a cover for the midfield or forward. If we need to sign some 19-22 lads for several million from outside in order to get some covers, it is quite a sad thing to the academy of the greatest club in the world IMO.

IMO.

United's midfielders:
Keane
Veron
Giggs
Beckham
Butt
Scholes
Chadwick
Only four of these can play at any one time (assuming 4-4-2). There's competition allright.
I know what you mean about the Academy.. but who knows what the immediate future might throw up?

Sure :) I haven't discovered that thread when I post the above message.

This season we have gone for 3 BIG names (although Blanc is for free - he should be consider BIG enough IMO) ... but the ACTUAL results haven't really shown well .. In other words, the changes have not been transparent as I hope it could be ... Firstly, Blanc took a long time to settle in and hence a bad spell of performance at the back ... and then the 4-4-1-1 formation to suit both RVN and Veron ... didn't work well at all IMO ...

Hopefully - whoeer coming in next season, then can blend in GOOD and FAST ... whoever you guys mentioned above - .. . I am really happy the choices are really out there ... and I believe Fergie has surely asked for some guarantee of spending before he sign any extension ...

by the way - I think it's really the time for a small shake-up and changes in the Old Trafford rank this summer .... looking at the of 1st team numbers that will be vacated soon ...

3. Irwin
14. May
23? Wallwork
+ Culkin

and as mentioned - most mouth-watering of all , No.9 jersey for a new striker no doubts !!!

Add Blanc

we have also be linked with Southgate  ,Cosmin Contra and Igor Tudor in the sunday papers

IN:

What we need:

Mexes and Hofland, 2 CBs would be nice, dont know what will happen with Brown/O'Shea though if we get two young guys. Be interesting to see what Fergie does, cant rotate 4 young CBs. Considering Blanc, Johnsen and maybe May leave, we're gonna need 2 guys coming in, but can we fit them? Similar to our midfield at times, too many of a good thing causes more problems than anything.

Full backs, particularly cover for Silvestre - Irwin's past it. Maybe a a better RB. A utility player'd be ideal here.

1 striker in the Owen/Henry/Cisse mould, fast, skillful, pacey and explosive. Something we havent got right now yet its a player who'd suit our style PERFECTLY.

Cover for Giggs. We NEED a left winger.

Out of the reserves the only ones I expect to make it (i.e. come close to Becks, Giggs, Scholes) are Richardson and Fletcher, although they may be 2-3 years away. Maybe some of the other U21 internationals like Djordic, Stewart but not many. More of the U17s will get in than the reserves, the U17s are quality!

Don't see Southgate every possible ... he's an Old man now and don't think he has shown enough for Fergie to go for him ... else we should already had him years back instead of now ... There're plenty more better CB out there for grabs ...
Contra not really impresive in terms of defending isn't he ? .. so don't see the point ... Tudor remains a possibility though ..

Are you sure we need two more young defender? Hofland and Mexes are both very good prospect, but we can't just buy the prospect. IMO we should only buy either one of them, and then add someone who is much more experienced such as Ayala.

I would like to see a young center back such as Mexes or Hofland to come in, also an experienced center back ie Ayala who has been doubed as the best European center back. A top class striker in class of Kluivert or Cisse.

I've never seen Contra play so I don't know what kind of a player he is...but if he is a wingback..could he be cover for Beckham or Giggs?

Too much Championship Manager for you! I'm gonna take it away from you for a few ... years...
;)

We need a good left wing cover. Giggs will always be out for part of the season. When we won the treble we had Blomquist who at that point was a decent replacement.

And we need a experienced full back in his late 20 ties, who can play with Brown/ O'Shea. He needs to be good at communicating. Does Ayala speak english?

We might also need a striker, depending on how well Forlan does this season.

Steve Finnan
Wayne Bridge
Kevin Hofland
Dean Ashton
Shevchenko or Cisse or Kluvert

That will do
