With all the talk of a new striker coming in on January, what kind of striker do you think we're going to get ?
Is it the target man type in the mould of Van Nistelrooy that enable us to play with the 4-4-1-1 formation better ?
Or, the creative type of striker in the mould of Cantona or Di Canio, that enabled us to get back to 4-4-2.?

your views please..

Someone like Ruud I think.

We definitely need someone with a physical presence.

Give forlan more full games and see how he does after yesterday, if not then a fast one.

Definitely must be a fast one who can also dribble. It's undoubtedly the weakest department in our front line at this moment.

Absolutely agree. We need pace and one who can open up the defence.

The attack department is soo weak that I think we need two type of players.

1 A fast yet creative forward who can trick any defense with his dazzling skills. Someone like Ronaldinho or Del Piero. He would be a perfect partner to RVN.

2 A Powerful cover to RVN. Someone like Gudjhansen or Ibrahamovic

i agree with you, however getting in a new partner to ruud will mean there will be rotation among scholes, veron, and the new guy, Ole, and Forlan for only 2 positions in the starting line up. Do you think SAF will buy into the idea? As it is Ole and Forlan are not getting too many games (injuries permitting they would not get games at all). Do you think these players will have no problems at all?

IMO we're not ready for a new partner to ruud this season. Maybe that is why Di Canio has been ruled out...

Pace, presence, dribbling skill, creative guile, good in the air and a good scoring record.

Only Shevchenko,Gudjhonsen, Ronaldinho and cisse fit the bill

Why aren't we utilising Ruud and Ole the same way we did last season when they scored 61 goals. They haven't been given a run at all yet.

gudjohnsen, pace and dribbling skills?

if we're only getting a striker fpr the league at the moment then I'd like to see Webber given a chance, it could save us a fortune in the interim and then we can buy big in the summer. He's an unknown quantity in the EPL but give him the chance, you never know!!

The formation we are playing right now does not ask for a fast striker. IMO a younger version of Shearer will fit in nicely.

I'd like to see some-one small and quick. I've mentioned him before but no-one took notice but someone like Jermaine DeFoe.

somehow I agree with EverHopefull ... we need a nippy guy ... a "dirty" striker for that sense ...Someone that will stick their feet in even there're already 10 rite there blocking the balls ... I think our strikers have been too "nice" since Cole left ... we miss his type of willingness to make that last ditch physical push ( and of course, he has the acceleration to do it ... ) ...

You needn't sound so suprised, i do occassionally make some sense

We need to have a striker that has to have pace to open up defences, had the ability to create space or chance for himself, and be able to score from anywhere (when up against packed defences) Eg Hasslebaink, Henry... Ole is good but does not have these qualities.

Yap, Defoe is fine, though a little bit too inexperienced. May be Varsell is also a good choice.

I think forlan had these qualities before he came to us. He was a right winger and was doing all sorts of stuff. Scoring from range, dribbling, creating chances.

If he gets on a good run for us then i think we'll see more of this from him.

Although i personally like Defoe also.

i think it's because of Scholes' presence in the team. It's very hard to put either Scholes or Veron on the bench and have Ole in the starting line up.

Scholes is now doing a good job and so it won't be fair to take him off.

Seba signed on to be a first team player, i don't think he'll be too happy to go on the bench. i don't remember the last time he was on the bench even.. can any recall?

A season and a half is long enough to settle in - as a team we play better in England with Scholes and Ole both in the team.

Is Seba bigger than the club?

of course not, but then don't forget that SAF is the club. His formation makes up the club while he's still here, and his formation says we're using Seba in every single game as long as he's fit to play. tough to compete with that IMO.

Agreed! Both these players could blossom at Man Utd...Vassel in part' is full of guile with great ball skills...Defoe more likely to eventually don the red IMO..I for one would welcome it...

We miss the speed of Andy Cole and the skill/vision of Sheringham or Yorke. So someone like Vassell or Duff will be very suitable for us.
