Any chance for a sticky in the United forum with a link to the ACS survey at www.joinmust.org/survey/? We're trying to find out if there's a critical mass to organise a protest or something.

And there's even an option for the Glazerites to tick "Yes I'm happy with the ACS I think it's brilliant!

Ta.

'Do you think we should do nothing and just accept whatever price rises and terms and conditions are served up to us?' under the headline 'do something or you will be done' is rather loaded, don't you think?! I signed up and would be prepared to do something, I'm actually in favour of a season ticket that includes cup games, at a fixed price so you know where you stand before the season begins. I also think league games should cost less than it would for a member to purchase one off, you're making a season long committment and should be rewarded so.

Either way, badly designed survey! I'm left feeling a little patronised that I couldn't make the decision for myself...

Read the guy in the newbie's thread on this...I don't like the idea of me being labelled a "JCL moron" just because I wasn't born as long ago as other people, and can't make it to games very often.

As seems the norm with our support these days, it's a genuine issue, being distorted by "I'm a more important fan than you" rubbish.

Also seems a bit pointless. People just don't seem to get it. The ticket prices will go up, because they can. No amount of pointless whining will change anything

Agree about the first two statements, not the third. The public can always affect prices in a market if they act en masse, and choose the correct method to voice their opinion. People could stop attending (we're led to believe United struggled to sell their last remaining season tickets last season), or government could pass legislation to protect football supporters. Football is already considered a special case industry under EU law

I would happily protest to the club direct or via a peacefull protest if that would help the cause.

I disagree however that the external party's (sponsors etc.) should be targeted.

I remember a few years ago there were protests outside Vodafone shops - pointless.

And dont go giving me that if the sponsors dont renew, the club will realise the protests against the sponsors have worked bollox.

Without the sponsors, the club would need to recoup the 'sponsor' money elsewhere, so the fans would no doubt be hit again.

With the ammount of members still applying and getting chubbed, the ST list is pretty irrelevant. Any ST that didnt sell for this season will be sold as one of tickets in the members ballot.
I would say it would take at least another 30000 ST holders to refuse renewal before the club suffer financially on gate receipts.

How many members do MUST have?

The entire point of the survey is to get this kind of feedback. Get on it mate.

32,0000. Or was that a rhetorical question? ;)

Well I hope you included that feedback when you responded.

The very fact that you (I mod I believe?) are confused about the issue demonstrates that it is important and a Sticky would be useful. At no point have MUST called anyone a "JCL". The call for a protest that has been posted on here (twice so far, many more to come I guess) was nothing to do with MUST. In fact MUST recommended to the individual in question that they postpone the protest pending the outcome of the survey.

This is democracy in action - if you want to join the survey and say that the ACS is fine and/or there's nothing we can do about ticket prices (the latter is rubbish actually, there's no reason with the right political backing we can't push for regulation in this area, the legal avenues are already open) then there is an option for that.

The survey has been advertised in all the fanzines, on the messageboards and through leafleting at matches. If RedCafe don't want to put up a sticky that's their decision, but don't start bleating that your members weren't listened to when a decision was made.

All I hear on here is people mithering about the likes of MUST being Manchester-based cliques that are out-of-touch with what 'normal fans' think. And yet when the opportunity arises for those outside the imaginary cliques to have a say, suddenly the mods are all humming and staring at their shoes as if they hadn't heard.

Remember that big countrywide survey that went round about petrol prices?

'If we all don't buy petrol on this day, then so-and-so will happen'.

That went well didn't it, and that was an issue that affects practically everyone in the country. Its nigh on impossible to get the public to unite on any issue. If we could, then we'd be living in a vastly different world.

I respect the right to protest. I just wonder why there are always people that believe it will make a difference.

That's the kind of apathy that allows the United owners to do what they wish with ticket prices.

Protests may not make a difference, but at least the issues and the discontent that many United fans feel would be brought to light.

If Liverpool fans can get together and show their support for Benitez, why cant we get together and show that were sick of being ripped off.

Well you could post that opinion on the survey, see? :)

Not really. I believe its the fact that they own the club that allows them to manipulate ticket prices.

Call it apathy, but the people have already spoken. The stadium was enlarged, the prices rose, and still the team play in front of a full house every week. Those are hard facts.

RE: being called a JCL; I was refering to the thread on this in the newbie forum, and in particular from the member who registered especially so he could post the said thread. "JCL moron" was the exact term used, I believe, and I don't think a lot of United fans (myself included) would take kindly to being thought of in that manner.

You're way out with the rest of your post. In fact, I barely even know what you're on about. Humming and staring at our shoes?

Personally, I just don't care too much for all this. I'm perfectly capable on my own of being a fan, and deciding whether I'm being ripped off, without the need to get involved in idiotic politics.

Well you're entitled to your opinion. But a lot of fans DO have an opinion on the sort of "idiotic politics" that you talk about - just check out some of the long-running threads. Now I don't agree with a lot of the views, but the questionnaire gives an opportunity for people to say once and for all what they want the likes of MUST to do (if anything) about the situation. Otherwise we just get the same "MUST don't represent our views, they're a bunch of Manc-based agitators" comments.

It's called democracy. But for it to work you have to let people know that it exists. And just because you personally aren't arsed doesn't necessarily mean that bunging a sticky up with a URL for a week is such a bad idea.

Shhhhhh.....

Tumbleweed......

Well can't say I didn't try. Thanks Mods for your time and your intelligent responses
