I'm beginning to wonder if our real problem is that we don't have him any more.

So would I. He seemed to have the respect of all the players. But I think the plc is too conservative and cautious to give him a chance. They seemed to have such a rigid formula when they were looking for a successor to Fergie last year and seemed to rule out the possibility of anyone who hadn't won the title or the European Cup...which is too bad.

I think McLaren could be a successor to Sir Alex if he get a few more years under his belt.
Although i did lose a lot of respect for him when he sent his boro' team out at Old Trafford with the sole intention of spoiling the fixture.

I think he's slowly over-taking every famous names out there as a potential to succeed Fergie in years to come ... If he continue to bring the best out of Boro in top-level ...

Who else better you can ask for ?

- Know everything in Man Utd inside out ... environment, players, culture...
- Man Utd TREBLE WINNING Coach !! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
- England assistant !! <img src="graemlins/angel.gif" border="0" alt="[Angel]" />
- YOUNG and capable !! <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

He's just lacking of that little pcs. of CREDENTIAL IMO ... and he looks to be doing everything RIGHT currently in building that up for himself ...

There has been speculation in certain football magazines that he could be the man being lined up to take over from Eriksson, I suppose that's fair enough as I am not sure the English FA would be prepared to appoint 2 foreigh managers in a row, and there would not be too many English managers that could really compare to him.

Do your parishioners agree? ;)

I rate McLaren very highly and think United have suffered because of his departure.

I think to be fair the sole intention was to get a point.

Come on Livvie. Don't you know that it is a sign of a good manager to throw a game away with suicidal attacking against stronger opposition just because you used to work for them?

If he had done that then I for one would have had much greater respect for him

That is why I repect that master tactician Kelvin Koogan so much.

Now why did McClaren leave United early? Afterall, he had only just joined them at the end of '98.

I'm sure that if it were not for the 'dispute' Fergie was having with the Board at the beginning of 2 summers ago, McClaren wud have been happy to carry on as No 2, at least till the end of 2001/2002.

But I feel that was what United were missing last season - a very good coach & No. 2 man. McClaren was that man - & we lost him prematurely!
