Who is he "the next"? I can't really take an article on a young player seriously if they don't know who to label him as "The Next...".

Getting called up to the national team at 16 is impressive no matter the nation. Sounds like good news. Why are they never central midfielders?!

Bloody hell. Can't one of these talents we sign be midfielders?

If he's on trial with us then surely he's as good as ours if we want him?

Does anybody know the rules of the under 21 league in relation to trialists? Would he be able to play tomorrow for instance? I know Schlupp played last year but Im not sure if that was allowed because he was already with an English club and it was a youth loan or because we brought him in in January

Translated article on Velkov

Manchestyr United is ready with a positive report seen by Stefan Belkov in five days, during which the young man training with the club. On Friday evening there was a Bulgarian version to play for the team of ' Reds' to '21 Arsenal " match of the Premier Reserve League .

Velkov has excellent knowledge of English and German and speaks . His family would prefer Stefan to finish high school before you go after the football dreams abroad.
A year ago youth international was close to a contract with Napoli , but his parents chose to stay in Sofia. The reasons were precisely of this nature - not the right time and right place.
A few more teams are requested to Velkov . So far, it seems most likely to doigravat championship in glory and in the summer to choose the best option for future talent .

So basically saying we have first option on him and he'll cost us around 500,000 pounds.

A talent to watch. One of the defenders emerging on the European scene. And 'Stefan Velkov, 1996 class footballer Slavia Sofia. On him, all big in Europe. Last week, a medical with Manchester United. According to Di Marzio.

Basically Velkov had a medical with us but an agreement hasn't been reached which has allowed Arsenal to make an offer.

It'll be a bit strange if we don't sign him. Velkov mentioned in one of his interview that we have given him an idividually-tailored training programme over the Xmas period.

Here's him with Rio and Vida

We also need a good youngish center back for U21 team, so it'd make sense.

 I just read this article, which seem apropos. http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/espnfcunited/id/11284?cc=5901

Basically, Moyes has dicked around so much on previous deals he's cost his club more money for Fellaini (twice) or missed out all together when another club comes in.

You don't think that's ever happened to another manager? At Everton with the limited resources financially he couldn't afford many mistakes in the transfer market.

Re Velkov I'd imagine negotiations are ongoing if the interest is solid. Nothing can happen until the window opens officially anyway.

Of course it does, but he still can't afford to dally. Even less so over players other big clubs will be after.

It's great the way they've managed to turn a positive into a negative. So he's meticulous? Good, he needs to be. We don't just need players, we need the right players, and all that's written in that "article" makes me think he'll get them.

Seems to be some reports that he's agreed to join Fulham. Nothing official though.

Saw one story online, said Fulham had agreed a deal with his club and that we decided not to use our first option. Said the fee would be a little over £500k.

Yep, the Bulgarian media pretty much confirmed it and the price reported is 650 000 euros. I'm happy for him, as he seems a really nice guy. He used to date a friend of mine. I rarely watch the local league tbh, so can't say much about his performances there but I've actually played against him in a school tournament. It's impossible to win a header against him and he's very composed on the ball. That was 2 years ago though.

Seems there was some sort of last minute hitch with a manager or something ?
