Has anyone seen the new film?/going to see it?

Is it anygood? Have a rare Saturday off and we planning on going the movies just deciding what film to watch.

I really want to go see it but my mrs has already said no and im scared to bring it up with my m8s because they'll call me a nerd even though it looks so cool! Also i have exams this month so finding time is hard...

But it looks good and let us know how it is!

I've never watched Star Trek, but i think i'll watch this.

I'm not a Trekkie, but I hope Spock's a blood thirsty maniac like Syler.

Same here, while i did like the next generation, i wasnt really too much into star trek but this movie looks good - the buzz around it has also been impressive

Got good reviews so far, a whole different angle on things from what i've heard... i'm excited, going to see it in Imax

apparently there is character development and incredible cinematography

I recently downloaded all 178 episodes of TNG.....Watching them all over again as we speak.
Can't wait to see the new movie. It was always a good experience.

good month this...terminator is also due this month.

Going to see it this weekend

Mind you, was slighty put off by the trailer they showed in the cinema the other day. It suddenly seemed a little to much like Star Trek, if you get what I mean (i.e. lame)

Saw this last night.... meh!

Yeah didnt really live up to the hype, altho the mrs enjoyed it, i was just left with a sense of disappointment - that said it wasnt that bad better then some of the other crap i've seen in the past few months

This might be the best Star Trek film since Undiscovered Country. Acting was top notch, they did a good job not imitating the original performances, but paying respect to them. Nimoy was brilliant.

Nothing wrong with the acting or story line (in fact that was some of the best since first contact - imo the best movie) but i really cant put my finger on it there was something that i thought was missing - it could be that this was the first movie where they had to develop the characters so the new audience would relate but to me it seemed like it was just wasting time. Good movie but not great imo

That is exactly how my best mate who loves Star Trek feels. I'm not really into Star Trek (although that said I got most of the fanwank), and I loved the movie, but he had mixed feelings.

I'm looking forward to it. The later films in the franchise were utter shit.

Thought it was quite good.

The people in the audience though, unbelievable stuff. Cheering them on, screaming in the fight scenes, some guy even stood up before the end and held his hands aloft as a sign of victory.

You saw this movie to early.

I've seen this sort of things in movies (that is, when people in the movies are watching movies), but I've never seen it in real life. Honestly, I thought it was just a myth. Hell, I've been to a Star Wars premier, and I think I was at one of the LotR premiers. This 'cheering them on' concept seems utterly alien to me.

TBH i think it is a foreign concept in Europe - or England at the very least, most of the die hard fans i know are fairly down to earth and would never dream of going to the cinema in full on gear

I remember I went to a movie where there was cheering on, but I forget for the life of me what it was. It wasn't any of the big recent blockbusters - I saw Transformers, Star Trek, Star Wars Ep3 on opening night and there was no cheering...

I think it might have been Wedding Crashers  :nervous:

Same here. I have also never seen anyone "walk out" and ask for their money back, although you read how people allegedly do it.

We asked for our money back once. Was nothing to do with the movie. Just a bunch of twats constantly making noise throughout the movie, and the staff did nothing despite people complaining several times. I think they ended up giving us free tickets to a movie of our choice.

There's a Klingon proverb that goes 'revenge is a dish best served cold', it is very cold in space

THIS is Ceti Alpha V!!

Yeah, I was referring to people who say the soundtrack was terrible, or acting was wooden, so they decided to leave. nonsense

Yeah i've never seen anyone do that either.

I once left a movie because it was so shit i couldnt take anymore, didnt ask for my money back because what would be the fecking point? I mean i saw half of it...

Was a good film, but I think with Terminator and the new Transformers film this will be quickly forgotten.
