Rebecca Adlington just absolutely domololished the opposition, broke the world record that ahs stood for 19 years by more than two seconds.

Meh. She's no Michael Phelps.

We've not had a British swimmer do that for 100 years, it deserves its own thread if i am any judge.

EDIT; Actually, i would have started it 100yrs or not, :).

Aye. She's only young if I remember correctly. 2012 will be a fantastic opportunity for her.

I was stunned by that, only Phelps has won a race with such authority in this Olympics.

Congratulations to Rebecca, all her fans and British Olympic Team - what a way to win that gold, in such a dominant style! :)

4th gold for Britain? Any chanses to pass the result from Athens of 9 golds?

Certainly, there's plenty more golds to come from the cyclists, supposedly a couple likely to come tomorrow in the sailing, and all manor of other chances from people I've never heard of competing of sports I've barely heard of either :)

It was 800 meters over that amount of time they are gonna separate, fair play to her though and congrats to her as well

It's really quite amazing how she has made such a massive improvement in such a short time...

Quite amazing........

Thats right shes a woman.

This is her first Olympics and she anhiallated the opposition to take two Golds and smash a world record. Phelps came 5th in his first.

If she lived in America and had a world class team around her she may well of taken several Golds home as she would have swam the relays as well. Unfortunately there are no other British swimmers that come close to her level.

Wake up this womans out of the very top draw.
