With Keano out now for presumably 3 months, its time for Butt & Veron in particular to stand up and be counted. Its been said that veron has felt intimidated by keanes presence alongside him, and its true to say that he has looked more compatible with Butt, as Butt tends to hold in front of the back 4 more. Those with the theory that Veron/Butt is better for the team than Keane/Another will soon find out.
It should also be noted however that during 10 matches that Keane missed last year, we had defeats to Bolton, Liverpool & Middlesborough.

It will certainly be interesting to watch.

On a similar but side note, with Silvestre missing tonight it will be fascinating to see whether the likes of Tierney will step up and take their chance, or whether Fergie will bottle it and go for O'Shea RB and P Neville LB.

That seems the likely option to me. O'Shea did ok there on Sat.

hes a good lad & im sure he'll do ok. But its no substitute for a specialised right-back.

I agree it time for the players to show what they are made of. They need to repay the faith that SAF has shown in them. The team are going through a few teathing problems at the moment, and it strecthing our squad to the limit, but i'm confident we can pull through it.
If we can keep in touch with the leaders while we have the injury problems then we should be in a good position when the players start coming back from the end of October.

Well no, but. Who would you rather play, someone who does ok in that position and is a (proven?) strong defender, or someone who has less experience. O'Shea for me.

I hope.
