Greatness ...... well about 10 games from it actua
This seasons bandwagon for bitters and reports has been our apparent lack in squad depth but i ask you this, we had

FERDINAND
KEANE
BLANC
BECKHAM
BUTT
VERON

all out how do you all think arse or wimblepool would have coped with thier similar players out ?

FERDINAND --- HYPPIA ----- CAMPBELL
KEANE--------GERRARD-------VIERA
BLANC--------HANDCHOZ------KEOWN
BECKHAM------MURPHEY-------LUNGBERG
BUTT---------HAMMAN--------GILBERTO
VERON--------SMICER?-------BERGKAMP

NOTE: some players aren't exactly like or like eg smicer/veron and murphey/becks.
But you get my point could the arse and pool still continue to keep up their title challenges .... could they bollox!!!!

none of them could cope and the press would also be feeling very sorry for them but they dont give a feck about us missing four players who would be the captains of other teams

Job, your point is very well made and I have to agree with you completely on it.

However, I don't think that the lack of depth was exactly meant to be in defense or midfield. It was more in terms of lack of goal scoring power, what with Ruud and/or Ole and/or Diego getting injured... A striker we do need, don't we?

But, definitely, the guys at the club have stepped in beautifully. Something that, you have to feel sure that neither Liverpool nor Arsenal would not have managed with the kind of casualties we have had.

i'm not saying we have a complete squad which is as solid as any and i agree we definatly need another striker and possibly wing cover BUT i was just saying the jibes made at UTD about thier lack of depth is a joke as, if pool or arse had the injury problems we have their would now way be able to cover in the way we have over the last month or so.

Yes Liverpool will be in trouble without those six players. But Arsenal should be able to cope with it. In PL Arsenal has the best depth of squad, while we are second to it (mainly because our lack of cover up front). If we buy one or two striker/forward in January, our depth of squad is as good as, or even better than, everyone else in the leauge.

there is no getting away from it...United have a shallow squad compared to Arsenal/Liverpool/Chelsea and even the likes of Newcastle and Leeds.
We are short of a striker of course, but also in the full-back area and wing department.
If you can criticise Fergie, it is that in recent seasons he has lowered the depth of the senior pool and not compensated with either quality yougsters coming through or bought in squad players.
In effect we have stood still for 3 years.
And when we buy, we buy for the 1st team for outrageous money...players straight off the back page of the Sun...20% for the agent and a tasty butty for the reporter if the deal goes thru.
Don't get me started on United's scouting network(sic)...Fergie's brother and his dog.
The reality is United haven't had strength in depth since the days of Poborsky and Cruyff.
