Internacional president Giovanni Luigi claims Tottenham Hotspur have re-opened transfer talks regarding Leandro Damiao.

Spurs came close to bringing the Brazil international on board in January, but failed with a deadline day approach.

Officials at White Hart Lane have continued to monitor Damiao since that point, with reports suggesting that they would return to the negotiating table at some stage.

Luigi says further discussions have been held, ahead of the summer window, and he has hinted that the 23-year-old forward will be plying his trade in the Premier League next season - rather than in his homeland or in Serie A.

He told Tutto Mercato: "If a club want a player, they must talk to the president of the club at which that particular player plays, and not just deal with the agent - that is not correct behaviour.

"Recently we talked with Tottenham, Leandro is very likely to play games in England in the coming year. On the other hand, we can exclude Napoli."

I think he's basically what they'd have wanted from Adebayor. Will definitely add to their squad - Adebayor looks a nothing player now and Damiao offers a physical and aerial threat, goalscoring ability and hold up play. He'd function well as either a partner or an alternative to Defoe.

They seem to be in for Him and Moutinho every window, now. And they seem to miss out every time.

Internacional wanted 20 million last time IIRC.

This has gone on for ages. I don't rate Leandro that highly myself to be honest. He's better than Adebayor, whatever that's worth, but not the next 'great Brazilian striker' sort of level from what I've seen. £25m seems a bit much for him I think.

Expect Spurs to get linked with Damiao and Moutinho till the very last minute of deadline day.

With the amount it will take to get Damiao shouldn't Spurs go after Benteke?

I'd love it if we had a 3 year long transfer saga, think of the thread size.

With the amount they'll get for Gareth Bale, they should go after both.

They only play with 1 striker and don't think Benteke and Damiao are both lead the line strikers. They should try and Hijack Jovetic from Arsenal possibly with Benteke.
