The hardest game i ever played was teenage mutant ninja turtles on the nes

seriously,

look at this.

what a way ot treat a 6 year old

i dont get to see youtube vids at work

but i bet you're talking about that fecking jet ski thing level

I swear that was put in the arcade machine so more kids could have a go.

Absolutely impossible.

Yeah it is, that guy has obviously done that level a hundred times and knows whats coming but it was just horrible.

Doom on the nightmare difficulty level was psychological torture.

That TMNT game on the NES was insane, me and my friend played it all the time and I think we only ever got to the end once, the underwater level was crazy.

Final Fantasy III was pretty difficult as well.

Super Star Wars on the snes. Renowned for being a bastard (Edit: on Brave or Jedi settings)

The hardest games I've played are I Wanna Be The Guy, which you can download off the interwebs, and Contra III on the SNES.

Surely COD on Veteran has to be up there?

Modern Warfare 2 wasn't actually that difficult on Veteran. There were a few parts of the game which frustrated the hell out of you, but on the whole it wasn't that bad.

Veteran on World at War was much more difficult in my superior opinion.

TMNT and Castlevania part 1 were the 1st console games I ever owned

I got right to the end of both but never completed either

Anyone remember Ikari Warriors on the NES? That is hardest game I ever ever played. Dont think I ever got beyond the 1st level

Top Gun (NES)

Some of the Megaman games are pretty challenging too.

The little mermaid on mega drive, still haven't completed it.

The Ninja Gaiden series was brutal.

Yes, Yes and another YES !

There was a difficulty level you could download that was worse than the Hard setting.

Best days of my life went on completing that game on all 3 difficulty settings, don't regret a minute of it.

I agree in my inferior opinion.

COD 1 on veteran was a motherfecker too. All of them have been challenging, sign of an awesome game that.

P-47 was a coin eater. I was damned good at it in the arcades (at college) but never got past the 8th level I think. Didn't see anyone else master it either.

Dragon's Lair (the NES version from ca. 1990)

Bar none the hardest game I've tried.

One of my friends bought the Sega game collection for PS3. So many difficult games on it. Altered Beast is pretty difficult...so are the Streets of Rage games. Ecco the Dolphin is also ridiculous.

If you're counting games made intentionally to attack and fool the player, there's only one answer:

I Wanna Be the Guy: The Movie: The Game

Keep in mind the guy in this video has played this game before and knows what to expect. Search youtube for other videos with first-time players screaming their lungs out in frustration.

Bubble Bobble for the NES isn't terribly hard but ridiculously infuriating. 100 levels of tedious and difficult gameplay. And if you complete the single-player...

(Scroll to the ending)

Yes, you have to do it with 2 players to get the "Happy ending"!

Imagine completing all 100 levels only to be given a sad ending.

Contra
Super Ghouls n' Ghosts
Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels

this

ridiculously difficult game and the worst part is if you somehow manage to scrape your way through it the only reward you get is to start all over again from the very beginning...butt ass naked
