The If Real puts Kaka on sale, should we be interested? thread inspired me to do this one. The past summers, players like Sneijder, van der Vaart and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been offloaded from the two big teams in Spain only to end up key players at strong clubs elsewhere. Zlatan is vital Milan’s chances of winning the Serie A. Sneijder was the brains behind the treble in Italy last season, and if Tottenham is to make the Champions League, van der Vaart will be a key man. Their reckless spending whom fall out does turn out to gold for others.
I am not saying that the current names are for sale or players Real Madrid/Barca wants to drop. It is just a collection of people that have been linked away, and/or have few attempts at playingtime this season.
Real Madrid
Ezequiel Garay: Age 24. Argentinean International defender. 2 matches this season.
Raúl Albiol: Age 25, Spanish International defender, 10, but only 3 full matches this season.
Not much playing time for a player with 24 matches for the Euro and World Champions. He lost the world cup due to his position at Real Madrid?
Sergio Canales: Age 20, Spanish u21 midfielder. Only 4 matches.
Rumored battle between Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid for his signature, only 4 games this season, I saw one of them earlier this season and I thought he was fantastic, so I don’t understand why he hasn’t been given further attempts. Very interesting talent.
Roylston Drenthe: Age 23, left Dutch International wingback/winger
Loaned too Hercules, don’t know if they have option to sign. Regardless not wanted at Real Madrid and probably a reasonable, young talented option.
Fernando Gago: Age 24, Argentinean International defensive midfielder. 3 games this season.
Lassana Diarra: Age 25, French International. Defensive midfielder.
Has been linked away for some time now, however is playing rather much under Mourinho but as a backup for Khedira.
Kaka: Age 28, Brazillian International, Attacking midfielder/Secondary striker
Has own thread: https://www.redcafe.net/f9/if-real-puts-kaka-sale-should-we-interested-291254/
Karim Benzema: Age 23, French International, Forward
Has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid for some time now. Is currently playing a bit but that's due to Higuain's injury. I am not sure he is what Mourinho wants
Barcelona
Gabriel Milito: Age 29, Argentinian International, defender.
Not sure if he could do anyone any good, as he has not returned for the injuries, but can he do that elsewhere?
Javier Mascherano: Age 26, Argentinian International, defensive midfielder
I know that its his first season, but he just don't seem to delivere at Barcelona. I am sure they did not spend £22m for him to rot at the bench, I also think they can re-coup most of that if they do drop him this summer.
Ibrahim Affelay: Age 24, Dutch International, winger
I know that he is a very recent signing, but he is already linked away from Barcelona due to lack of matching
The point with this thread is not necessarily to only focus at options for us, personally I only want or wanted Benzema, now I think he would be a surplus to requirements with Berbatov, Rooney, Chicharito and Welbeck returning from a successful spell at Sunderland. I also think Canales is a excellent prospect, but as I started, I just took ones with little playing time - I am pretty sure that Real Madrid is not interested in selling Canales. But its also interested for the competition. For example Arsenal and Chelsea could both improve their squads quite a bit to give us a better challenge for the biggest squad, if you are to compete both for Premier Leauge and Champions League gold as a English team you need strong squad.
Premier League Rivals
Arsenal could use a lot of these, I am sure Wenger could give Benzema a new spring like he did with Henry after he struggled at Juventus. Some of the defenders, would also increase their squad a bit, especially Abidol. I also feel that Affelay seems like a Arsenal type player, I believe he is linked to such a transfer as well.
Chelsea well we know there is a history between Ancelotti and Kaka. If Drogba is to leave Benzema could be a ideal replacement, him alongside Torres would be a interesting duo. Mourinho could probably swap him with Drogba as well if he was calling the shots. Mascherano would in my mind be a improvement to Mikel. Adding him to the squad would make them stronger and release Mikel to a more offensive role and squad member.
Tottenham is crying out for a proper striker, Benzema and Kaka would be excellent signings for them, although I don't see Kaka signing for Tottenham. But if they could get Benzema and get him going it would be great signing. Hopefully they would sell Bale to us this summer, Affelay could possibly be a nice replacement if he really wants to leave Barcelona? Woodgate and King are done due to injuries, so maybe they could sign some of the defenders to improve that area.
Manchester City I am not sure I think anyone of these are "big enough" for City anymore as they spend so much money - but I could see Mancini making a move for Kaka.
Liverpool I believe everyone on that list would improve Liverpool.
Almost all of these would get more playing time in England than in Spain, as a strong squad is so much more important as the fixtures are so much harder. I am sure several of these would make the first teams in Italian top teams as well, for example Milan could use both Mascherano and Lassana Diarra to replace their elder ones. That would easily make them a better team long term, and possibly future European champions?
Any predictions? Wishes? etc.
