Anyone with a stream to this game - please inform me :)

And if not - I hope someone will give some updates on team and results

1. Johnstone
2. Brown
3. Fryers
4. Thorpe
5. Wootton
6. Tunnicliffe
7. Ajose
8. Morrison
9. Cofie
10. W Keane
11. Brady (c)

12. Ngoo
14. Hussain
15. McGinty
16. Cole
17. Lingard

We've just taken the lead on 17 minutes, great throughball from Keane to Tunnicliffe who tucked it away very coolly.

We were quite good though created very little. Tunnicliffe started and made the goal really but a great throughball by keane. Nice again to see Obertan there, pity we won't get to see Pogba today.

Morrison made a tackle round the half way line and then shot which just floated past the top right hand corner but it's been a close game. Not sure if he's 'filled out' as i've not seen enough of him but he looks quite slim so maybe not.

You got the bench as well ?

Can't fully remember it - Ngoo, Cole, Lingard and McGinty are on it, not sure on the fifth (presumably Devlin but not sure).

1-1 now, muddle at the back and Keegan drilled a low shot in from 20 yards.

And now a Southampton penalty after a foul by Reece Brown - scored.

Hussain is the fifth sub.

Decent response to going behind, Brady's missed a sitter, Ajose's had a couple of shots.

Could just be a month-long trial, nothing to prevent that as far as I know.

All United at the minute, Southampton defending pretty well though.

Pogba, Petrucci and Obertan amongst those watching.

These youngsters of ours have a bad tendency to under-achieve. Southampton were one of the worst teams last year - and hardly picked up a point away from home.

I thought Southampton always have an above average academy. Alot of good players came out of their academy over the years. It aint all about results either..........

They have produced quite a few good ones yes - but they also sell or move them up to the senior-side fairly quickly when they do, so I seriously doubt their academy-side is that good.

It's the first game of the season, seven first-years in the team. Don't think you could possibly accuse them of under-achieving on the back of that. Especially as the bulk of them just 'achieved' the Milk Cup ;)

They'll probably learn more from the mistakes they made to throw the game away than they would have done from a routine 2-0 win. Was a decent performance otherwise.

No - I am making that comment based on a lot of results last season when we should have won easily and still ended up losing. Going out in the FA Youth Cup in the 3 round, twice in a row. Both matches where we for long periods of time were superior.

Last year was in Round 3 but the year before was in round 4.

We have been knocked out at the first attempt eleven times in 56 years.

Normally they are once in a blue moon occasion but we had a poor run in 1997/98, 1998/99 and 1999/00.

It's not all about results at that level though, it's about player development. It's not really really productive to make it all about winning.

Of course - but learning to win is an important part of football - not to mention playing to the max of your capacity

Well it's a significantly changed team for starters, no-one out there today was part of the Youth Cup exit to Carlisle for example (and not many were involved vs Chelsea last year). Bad results happen, especially at youth level, to start labelling the team as under-achievers seems bizarre to me (especially when they lifted a trophy a month ago).

Teams lose to teams they shouldn't lose to at any level (as we all know after midweek) so it should be no surprise it happens at youth level where players lack experience.
