Slightly world cup related...SA dance music seems to be breaking out of Africa and into European/US consciousness despite very little being available outside of SA.
First, there was Kwaito (which is very similar in tempo and style to Funky), now the next type appears to be Shangaan Electro, 180bpm plus marimba beats. There's a comp out on Honest Jon's getting universally positive reviews and the music is infectious and joyous (and cheesy), with sped up samples, call and response vocals and some dodgy dancing:
Better than that fecking wave the flag tune anyway.
