WARNING - From TribalFootball:
Manchester United and Leeds United could nick Juan Pablo Sorin from under the noses of Lazio.
Argentine press reports yesterday indicated the wing-back's move from Brazil's Cruzeiro is under a cloud after Lazio president Sergio Cragnotti's attempts to close the deal at a lesser price than what was originally agreed.

Cruzeiro officials are said to be furious with Cragnotti, with reports indicating Lazio would like to sign Sorin on the cheap before making an immediate profit by selling him to either United or Leeds for around £8 million.

Bit fishy this, seems like he's still technically a Cruzeiro player. I still wouldn't be surprised if there was a sorin, escude and carini in, with silvestre out situation.

Lazio cant complete any transfers right now. They are trying to lower Sorins cost from Cruzeiro.Im a Lazio fan but it is getting hilarious.Lazio owe money to Velez,to us,Verona,Cruzeiro,Sae Caetano.

Have Lazio got a signed contract for Sorin or not? Have they paid them? Could United actually negotiate directly with Cruzeiro still?

What do you think. This is Lazio ;)

Doesnt seem as Lazio has paid.Cragnotti is trying to lower Sorins price. But im almost sure Sorin has signed a contract with Lazio.

Lazio haven't finalised anything yet with Sorin's club according to my sources, and even if they do it would be vetoed with immediate effect by the Italian FA.

I can see Sorin joining us as he can play both left back and left midfield, with Silvestre perhaps heading for Juventus according to the Italian media.

Realistically Sorin, Escude & Carini could all come in before the transfer deadline. Also if we bought Sorin it could temporarily solve the striker issue, with Sorin playing left midfield and Giggs playing through the middle of the park as a fourth striking option.

We'll will just have to wait and see, I do though believe that Sorin could well be a United player in the very near future! Well hopefully anyway, he's class!!!

Sounds like we might be able to do a Carini and nick the player before he joins them, and before they try to make a quick profit on him.

Carini wants £1 million in wages according to tribalfootball. That stopped Arsenal and it is said we are pulling out too.

Lazio's problems summed up by soccerage.com...

'The Italian League, after having verified the financial situation of the Serie A teams, decided to invalidate three contracts, all of which regard Lazio.

'Eriberto and Manfredini, who were purchased from Chievo, and Italy international Massimo Oddo, who has spent all of the preseason with the Biancocelesti, must come back to their former clubs, that's to say Chievo and Verona respectively.

'Furthermore, Lazio still have pending issues with Manchester United for Stam, with Cruzeiro for Sorin, with Sao Caetano for Cesar and with Velez Sarsfield for Castroman. All of these teams still have to receive all or part of the money for the above mentioned players.

'Lazio chairman Sergio Cragnotti must find cash money as soon as possible, and this probably means that he will be forced to sell his jewel Alessandro Nesta.

That's 20k a week, how much is Barthez on? If we are looking at him moving permanently and Barthez leaving next Summer it is well worth it, if he is just a backup for one year so that we have a good second backup in Carroll it might be a bit OTT.

The Sorin situation is as follows:

Lazio signed him. FACT
He has a contract with Lazio. FACT
Lazio haven't fully paid for him. YOUR GUESS.

Lazio want to renegotiate the payments with Cruzeiro. Not clear if it is about the amount, spreading it for longer or (possible) that Lazio might be trying to sell the player and Cruzeiro is edgy about them making money on him while not having been paid and potentially having to try to get the money from Lazio with the player already doing his stuff elsewhere!

On a football roundtable last night they were discussing this. Apparently Cruzeiro were considering demanding the player back on a one year loan for any negotiation to be successful.

A commentator said it was unlikely as many European clubs were interested in him so if things got complicated he would probably end up in one of those clubs. He then made a comment I found quite surprising/interesting "one of the clubs interested is Manchester United, but then, any half decent player is linked with Manchester United".

Before I started laughing at this Ichk bashing by a Brazilian I noticed the whole audience was laughing. Even in Brazil they laugh about you Ichk/Kemo/panic buyer!

Surprise turned to shock once I started thinking how on Earth the Brazilian public had got so well informed about our links:

Marcos, Cafu, Lucio, Edmilson, Bobby Carlos, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and Ronaldo have all been linked with us in the last 4 months. The only one in the WC squad not linked at all was Gilberto Silva, which explains why Wenger managed to sign him...

If the Escude deal falls through, and Sorin doesnt sign for Nazio, we should step in and hijack the deal.

Given a choice, who do you guys want? Sorin or Escude? Sorin seems to be a better bet but he could find it hard in EPL though. Escude might settle in faster. I think I will go for Sorin. He will give us more option.

isnt Sorin more widely known as a wing back? If so hed probably be as useless in our defence as Ziege was in Pools, ie like a fish out of water in a flat back 4.

I don't know about useless, I would prefer to sign Sorin, he would give us a strong option at left back and also could challenge for places with Giggs for the left midfield position. Sorin has fantastic crossing ability and great pace, and these are qualities that have always been a strong feature in our side.

And with Escude now out for three weeks, it wouldn't surprise me to see Sorin coming into the club.

Signing Sorin would be more complicate, I think. Lazio has the player's contract but still owe Cruzeiro. Or may be they co-own Sorin?

Cragnotti got what he wanted. He didnt want Manfredini and Eriberto but the league forced him too.Now he just have to buy Oddo again or loan him.
