Something went wrong.......

Well, I don't really know what, but I hope they'll play better next time.....
What do u think, People??? :( <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Number of possible things went 'wrong' tonight....

1. The lads still have their Pre-Season faces on. We are always a bit lacklustre in the early stages of the campaign. Once the Prem season get's in to full flow, we should do better. If we can scrape by these first few weeks and let the players get used to playing with each other again, we should do alright.

2. Over-confidence. Shouldnt have been a factor, but we shouldnt be naive and say all our players were focused last night. Half of them didnt seem quite there. I wouldnt go as far as to calling them prima donnas, but they need to seriously consider how they played.

3. Wes, Rio and Gary injured.

4. I know its an old excuse, but we do seem to be getting predictable. Teams can just shut up shop for 80 minutes and then catch us unawares like Liverpool did last year. Veron will hopefully help us solve this, but at the moment it doesnt seem right that we have a fit Scholes and Butt
sitting on their arses.

In the end, nothing to worry about. SAF and the boys know whats expected of them and they know what to do. They wont let us down. They are pros who will hopefully run out on to the OT turf on Saturday with a point to prove. However it does worry me that people are always saying, "This will be the kick in the backside we needed." after we lose a big game. It happened after the defeats to Bayern in 2001, Arse, Chels, Pool etc. this year. The players must take responsablity.

did you see the state of the fecking pitch? A ball on the floor would slide, visibly gather a thick green stripe, bobble a bit and then stop altogether when least expected. must have been like playing with a burst ball. veron had a torrid time.
i have now officially applied for Phil Neville's place in the squad.

1 question. As like last year I thought Seba was bought to break down these sort of teams, to give us the "unpredictability" that we had been lacking. I think we've run out of ideas with the present set up. The pitch isnt an excuse as ZTE had to play on it too. Over confidence isn't an argument as SAF would not allow it but complacency is a different thing. Pre-season faces being on also should not be an argument as we've played enough competitive games in the last 2 weeks to have been able to beat a below average team. Injuries - thats down to squad depth again, or lack of it.

We'll still progress but no-one is certainly going to fear us and we could be in for a hell of a 1st group stage. If I was an opposing manager I'd attack, all out attack, you might get caught on the break but your certainly going to get chances against us :(

They will play a 14 man defence again at OT
11 Hungarians and three Germans(The Ref and two assistants)!!!!
Just like the first leg! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

van nistelrooy WAS offside.

it's always someone else's fault, isn't it?

you lot must get it from ferguson. . .he can never, ever admit that his team or gods forbid, his tactics were to blame. . .

While the referee may not have been the best we've ever seen, he didn't send off any of our players or gave ZTE 10 penalties or something.

The blame is with us. Last season we complained we had the wrong sort of pre-season with all the travelling to the far east and playing weak teams. Well, this time we hanged around Europe and played some good sides like Ajax, Boca and Parma.

Didn't get us into the season groove any better, and against a team not playing in their own home ground.

Find me an instance where houllier admitted it. Or Wenger.

Nothing went wrong, it was just bad luck! Forget about the match, and let's concentrate on the home match, hope that the scoreline doesn't exceed 10-0! Smiiiiiiile! We're the best.

well you're a charmer, aren't you?

houllier and wenger have both admitted "they were better than us" and "we got what we deserved, nothing".

but then that's because they both have a little grace and dignity. . .unlike yourself.

THat's on the same level as Ferguson's "no excuses. We didn't play well" comments last night.

That Seba bought for adding new spark is already a mistake from the beginning. I won't be surprised if he can improve and played much better than last season, but still he won't add any new thing to our team, because we already have players who can do nearly everything he did (may be except some backheel and little tricks which usually have zero effect). If we really need new spark we should sign someone who can beat opponents and unlock defence, such as Duff, Di Canio, etc.

I wish people would stop rabbiting on about how we dont have the players, veron is rubbish, the ref was awful, about last nights result. The fact of the matter is, we were all over them for 88minutes of the match, they got 1 lucky break and punished us for it!!! Come on, I mean please, can anyone really see them being able to keep us at bay for 90 minutes at OT after what they saw last night!!! What we need to do is stop knocking the team and realise that a lot of big name teams go to these so called weaker nations, get beaten by a goal or so, but then in the return leg absolutely thrash the arse off the "smaller" tea.
So please stop all this nonsense talk, keep calm and realise that in 2 weeks time we'll be sitting pretty in the group phase!!!

at the end of the day we were crap last night, the irony was i was watching the game with a mate (villa fan), and when the teams went up he says, "look at that midfield man, it must be the best in the world", how funny then that the midfield went missing!,
blame pitches refs or whatever, we were crap, we should have buried them, if we cant beat the hungarian champions we dont deserve to be in the competition.
on another note, i thought o'shea had a good game, neville and silvestre were at fault for teh goal, but at the end of the day that goal should have been a concelation! oh well, lets home we get it right at home

Do you have any quotes to support that? Houllier maybe, he's had so many defeats to explain, but Wenger?

(Nice to see you speaking up for Arsenal too. I always thought you were a blinkered Dipper. Mums are such pleasant unbiased people.)

Like last season?

i dont see how some of u can say "seba was awful." true he was, but so was the rest of the midfield. for once why dont we critisize becks and keane like we critisize seba.
true veron played shite.
true keane was nowhere near his best last night.
becks was also pretty bad
giggs just was shite too

to be honest i dont know if we will make it through right now, but tbh we will know whether we will after West Brom on saturday. if we beat them 2 or 3 nil, then we have something to build on. if we beat chelsea we have the momentum as well,
.
by that time Zala whatever will have no chance. though if we scrape through against west brom and draw/lose to chelsea then were <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

still though i think well get through, but all will be clearer after saturday

I also want to add that they did travel to Hungary. Maybe they were tired from all the damn flying around. I wouldn't blame them if they were. Let's see how the perform at OT before judging anything.
