Yorke exit imminent

Dwight Yorke expects that he will have said goodbye to Manchester United before the start of the new season.
The ex-Trinidad and Tobago international has been strongly linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers after spending most of last season in United's reserve side and has told friends, "something will be happening pretty soon".
After weeks of haggling, Yorke joined United for a then record fee of £12.6 million in the summer of 1998, and Sir Alex Ferguson is said to want half that amount from Rovers if they are to get their man.
Graeme Souness is believed to have offered £3million for the former Aston Villa striker but with United said to be in the running to sign Blackburn's Damien Duff, a compromise could be on the cards.
Rovers rate Duff at around £20 million, United are unlikely to offer more than £12 million for the Republic of Ireland winger, but if Yorke was included Blackburn might agree to the deal.

It's a relief. But a great shame to have seen he's career go the way it has. Good luck to the lad however.

Duff would be a great sweetener to help us get over the gutting loss of Yorke.

Will everyone still want yorkie to do good in his next club ?
I know I will, no matter what happend to him in the last 2 years in United.

ofcourse.. i'll never forget his hand in the treble season.. yorke was brilliant in 99.

i'll always wish United players the best.

Agreed.

Once he's gone, he's gone. and the disdain I've felt for him over the past 12 months or so will go with him.

I was dead set against him coming to OT in the first place but I'll be eternally grateful for his contribution to the 98/99 season.

Gutting loss? Disco has been a bit part player at OT for two years. Glad to see the back of him.

Will always remember him for the 98/99 season, very instrumental in the treble, and the day when we ripped Arse 6-0, his last hurrah. He did always have a smile on him though, wish him all the best wherever he goes.

He's gone for £4m it seems. Read that as definitely needing to buy another striker, and having the wage room to do it.

It is very rare that I want a United player to leave but I will be glad when Dwight goes. He is too disruptive and unwilling to knuckle down to do the hard work we now need.

I wish he had used the opportunities Fergie gave him before Fergie lost patience. He is a great player when firing. He was a key player in the treble year and the hat trick against Arsenal was unforgettable too.

Wherever he goes I wish him the best and hope he gets his act together.

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness could make a final bid to sign Dwight Yorke after confirming that Matt Jansen will miss the start of the season.
Souness has become increasingly frustrated in his attempts to sign Yorke after United placed a £6m price tag on his head. Souness is refusing to meet United's asking price but may make a last-ditch bid to capture the player.
Souness' need for a new striker has become more desperate after he revealed that Ewood Park favourite Jansen will not be available for the start of the new campaign as he continues his recovery from a head wound sustained in a motorcycle crash on holiday in Rome.
Jansen is unlikely to play until September, and Souness said: "Of course it is disappointing, but the good news is Matt is making excellent progress. Our medical team are very happy with him.
"It has been very much rest and relaxation therapy for the player. We are being led by the medical staff who are greatly encouraged by his progress."
United outcast Yorke has not played since January and is certain to leave Old Trafford before the start of the new campaign. He has not been given a squad number and the club shop has even taken the step of removing all merchandise bearing his name.
But Souness says he is not prepared to meet United's valuation for a player whose contract ends next summer.
"I want Dwight Yorke. It's no secret, but at the moment our valuation is miles away from Manchester United's," added Souness.
"We are not prepared to pay over the top for a player with just 12 months on his contract."

The quote at the end is old, but the fact that its going through seems to be right, according to kevthered at least. And he's getting thing right so far. So expect Recber in soon, with Barthez on his way out. Duff is a hopeful at the moment, straight fight with liverpool.

The Mirror:
DWIGHT YORKE has been given a final snub by Manchester United, who have axed the striker from their squad list ahead of the launch of the club's new Nike kit.

Out-of-favour hitman Yorke has been told he can quit Old Trafford following a series of run-ins with boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

But United have struggled to off-load the former Aston Villa star after slapping a £6m price tag on the 30-year-old.

Despite facing up to a diet of reserve team football until his contract expires next summer, Yorke has refused to head for the exit door.

Blackburn boss Graeme Souness is keen to snap up the forward in a bid to pair him alongside former United strike partner Andy Cole.

But the Ewood Park chief is unwilling to raise his £4.5m valuation of Yorke to meet United's lofty £6m asking price.

The Trinidad & Tobago frontman has been left in no doubt about his future at the Theatre of Dreams, however, following the club's decision to omit Yorke's name from the merchandise section of United's official website. Yorke has failed to appear for United since coming on as a sub against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup in January.

Blackburn could do with extra firepower as striker Matt Jansen will miss the start of the season as he battles to recover from his summer car crash in Italy.

The England squad man needed hospital treatment to a head wound following the smash in Rome on June 8.

And Rovers boss Graeme Souness said: "Matt picked up a bang on the head. We have been told we shouldn't risk him until at least the end of August."

FansFC.com:
Blackburn Rovers manager Graeme Souness has made no secret of the fact he wants to buy Trinidad and Tobago international Dwight Yorke, whose career at Manchester United has reached an undistinguished impasse.

However, Souness was not prepared to meet Yorke's exorbitant wage demands nor Man United's £6 million price-tag.

Having signed Andy Cole from the Old Trafford club with such successful results, Souness would love nothing more than to re-unite the old Red Devils double act at Ewood Park. So today's news that United are now only asking for £4.5 million for Yorke will surely kick-start fresh negotiations.

Sir Alex Ferguson dropped the 30-year-old ex-Aston Villa legend for purely footballing reasons, but then seemed to become enraged when Yorke's huge wage demands resulted in the collapse of Blackburn's first bid for the player last season.

This denied Ferguson the funds to make one more signing, which the Old Trafford gaffer believes could have improved his team by just enough to have won United the title for the fourth consecutive year.
