Hopefully Gary Neville will be back soon, and our back four can get settled, though I'd prefer to see Rio/JOS as a partnership.

If Phil Neville is to stay at right back, we need to educate both him and Beckham - Beckham should stop trying to get inside all the time and grab the goals, and then maybe PN won't bomb so far up front.

Same for Giggs and Silvestre.

Keep Scholes in midfield where he operates the best, and use two strikers up front - because if Ruud is looking jaded now, what will he be like after a few more 4-5-1 games!
 
it may sound basic but as you have said the wingers have to play as wingers

the want to come inside all the time and this means we play infront of teams without getting in behind them

and giggs needs to stay out on the wing because when he difts inside ole has to go out to the wing leaving ruud up front on his own

solutions???,,,i wish i know them,,,we should have looked 4 solutions n the summer, anyway,bringing some youngstars from the youth team will IMO inject some flair,,much needed flair.
 
get bob the builder in to build a wall in fabs net, then we cant leak in any goals!
 
Leaking goals is not the problem IMO. The defence looks a lot stronger than last year. I think they restricted the sheep to a couple of chances. The goal was a goodun and the kind that can be scored by any PL team. No, the problem is we can't score to save our lives right now. It's pathetic and predictable. We are not creating enough clear cut chances and the odd ones we do, Ruud is on the end of them and is not on form. Ole does not link up well with him and as a consequence is not getting any chances either. I agree with Livvie, we have to get round the back and put in some crosses, cause a bit of confusion. Leeds were there for the taking yesterday, they were panicking a bit around the box but we want to walk it in all the time. I'd like to say the loss of PS, JSV, Keano (and now Butt) meant Giggs and Becks were covering inside a litle more but they've been playing like that for a while. When you think about it, we haven't really been firing since we got 2000/2001 in the bag apart from our decent run last season which faded out. Failing to sign a decent striker is looking more and more disasterous each week. What solutions can be had when so many players are injured? The back-up players are poor - Chadwick couldn't go past my grannie, Forlan runs around like a headless Chicken, and - well we've run out of players now, so much for the strong squad. I know we've been unlucky but the Arse are still without Pires and Ljunberg and they're still managing to do it. I don't know what the new coach is doing but we look completely unable to alter our gameplan if we don't score. It's time to take a big breath and realise that we are going to struggle to make the Champions League if something radical isn't done. The players can do it! They've done it before. But someone has to get hold of them and give them a plan! It's a team game, not a bunch of individuals. So come on United! <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />
 
There is no clear cut solution but the so called stars are letting the team down. Giggs, Beckham, RVN and others are working on AC. And you cannot - i repeat - cannot - create chances with Phil Nev in the middle. The solution of Neville in the middle worries me. Does this mean we do not have any young midfielders who can be give a chance????

Personally I would take this opportunity to play Beckham centrally in the abscence of Keane and Scholes. Becks is supposed to want to play centrally, he now has the armband, let's see if he can deliver in that position.
I'd play Veron deeper in front of a back 3 to give him time and space and so he sees a lot of the ball and can pick out his passes.
I have faith in Seba, I still think he can become our playmaker if played in the correct position.
We have to Start playing Forlan from the start and forget about the lack of goals. Let's start thinking of him as as an attacking midfielder.
Butt has been playing really well, if he's not fit who do we want in central midfield...P. Neville or an U21 star like Stewart?
I know Neville jnr. can hold a position and get stuck in, but it begs the question...just what is the Academy for?
Ricardo?...I just think we need to see him play in the 1st team. Apparently he has impressed for the reserves. Let's see what he can do. Barthez has done nothing special thus far to make him automatic choice.
