I think it's official. Sol will be banned against us in 2 weeks time.

Wenger is planning to recall Matthew Upson from the loan to maybe sit on the bench or even play.

Come on Ruud!

This is indeed sad news.

:D

fair enuff' IMO. we'll probably be without keane and Rio. PLUS becks, gaz and butt. i'd say we're still a couple of men down. but little good news is better than bad news!

Please, Please, Please, Please play Igor Stephanovs.

Even disco got a hat-trick when he played.

Looks like there could be even more AssAnal guys in trouble... hopefully!

Personally I'd prefer Campbell to play, don't rate him that highly but it's good news about Vierra. :D

... anyway, first Basel, then Scousers... one game at a time!

Vieira will play:

I telephoned the FA to check whether Paddy's yellow card picked up in the Community Shield counted towards domestic suspension, and they confirmed that it did and that Paddy would be suspended for the United game because he's picked up four yellow cards in the Premiership + one in the Community Shield.

But they've now called me back to say that they made a mistake and that bookings in the Community Shield don't in fact count towards Premiership suspensions. So he will play, (although I can't guarantee that the FA won't ring me back and change their minds)

Martin Keown is poised to make a return soon, he will play for the reserves tonight and should be fit for dec. 7, if not then Matty Upson will be brought back from loan and should play. No Stepanovs for you. :D

someone should confirm viera's ban.

only the arsenal newsreel page is apparently saying he isn't.

how can the yellow card not count from the community shield.. i mean, would a red card have made a difference then?

It's official:

I'm sure Keano was suspended after getting sent off (or was it just a yellow?) in the CS....?

keane served a suspension in the premiership for being sent off in the charity shield however bookings in the charity shield dont count

Nope, players serve their suspensions 14 days after they get a yellow/red card. Why do you think Sol will miss that game and not the Villa game next saturday?

i think there were plans to change this, but the teams opposed to it.. they wanted an immediate one match ban right after a red card is received. an appeal can be made later should the verdict comes out to be more than just one match. but the one match suspension is not arguable.
