Last season people on here were refusing to accept that he might be a bit shit, and clinging on to the hope that "he must have something, otherwise fergie wouldnt play him" and "he is still maturing, he just needs to bulk up a bit".

well after fergie has signed 1 midfielder with another 1-2 on the way. what say you now darren fletcher lovers?

When will he "come good?"

again.... I was correct in my criticism of him

thankyou

He's going to keep both Carrick and Hargreaves out of the starting eleven this season, mark my words.

Put it this way. He is not very good in passing, maybe just sideways and backwards, and seldom the brilliant long passes. He crumbles under pressure and is too lightweight to shield the ball well, and his courage is non-existent, and is apparent in his half-hearted 50-50 challenges. He cannot head, cannot tackle, cannot dribble, and have a decent vision at best. Not the best striker of the ball, and his crossing is average. I challenge anybody to prove me otherwise in my assessment of him, and please do not talk about his one-off performance against Arsenal. In that game, Oshea, Ronaldo and Giggs were all playing their best performance in Highbury when we won 4-2 and they made Fletcher look good, and not the contrary. My question is, if so, then how could people still consider him good enough for us?

fletch will have a good season. looked very sharp during pre-season. he will mature into one of the best midfielders in the prem and i'm not kidding at all. time will prove me right. come christmas you feckers will have to find a new player to throw unfair amounts of shit at.

He did well to fill in when was needed but was never a great talent. Didn't lose any games for us, but never won them either.

Except against chelski, but it was blatently meant to be a cross.

He'll come good when he meets some nice lady (maybe he already did on the amsterdam trip?).
Otherwise, he's crap, always was, always will be.

According to Fergie, when he's 23. So that would be by next season.

Worst thing is hes an arrogant sun of a crackwhore, ive seen 4 post/pre match interviews with him and he comes across very full of himself. Then again that may just be the footy cutlure.

how so?

He's clearly not very good. If he had been a Brazilian or Argie signing everyone would have written him off ages ago, and declared that we should never sign a latin player again, citing Fletcherinho as an example. There, that's another take on things for the idots who feel the only reason why anybody could possibly not rate Fletch is because he has a British name.

I have a feeling he'll come good this season or the next. He isn't as bad as some people make him out to be.

He won't ever come good for United. He ultimately lacks the ability and does not have the strength of character or drive to succeed at the highest level.

this thred should be called "when will fletcher feck off"

he's pathetic. he must look around the changing room and think "what the hell am i doing here" he cant seriously think he's good enough. hopefully the return of scholsey and arrival of carrick and impending hargreaves the skinny, frail, good for nothing piece of shit will be sold.

ive just gone through the premiership team by team. if everybody had there strongest team available then i beleive fletcher would get his game for 3 teams. four absolute max. and those 3 are the promoted teams and ive only counted them because i aint too sure of there midfield qaulity.

if he was at chelsea, liverpool or arsenal could you imagine him getting anywhere near the first team???? yet he has over 100 appearances for us.

its quite embarrasing. reckon he gets picked last at 5 a side

but that's what we said last season!

He had a very poor run and his confidence dropped. But he is a better player than what he showed last season.

Anyway if we sign Hargreaves, Fletcher stands 5th or 6th down in the pecking order. I doubt he would get chances like he got in the last couple of seasons.

Over in my country, playersr like Fletcher doesn't even make it for 5 a side. They are usually either the referee, or we asked them to f*ck off.

I've still not able to understand why some people actually rates Fletcher as a decent player. Come on, he is the only player i know, that has no particular stand-out strength in his game. If passing simple is a much need trait in midfield, i don't see what is stopping us from seeking other players, cos other offer much more than just that. Imagine how we would perform if we had actually 10 outfield players

When will Fletcher come good?
When pigs learn how to fly.
Unfortunately he will be in the starting lineup on Sunday and every week after that because SAF has to have at least one Scottish player on the team, even if he can`t make the starting lineup for 85% of the Premiership teams.

An interesting post. Alex ferguson sees fletcher day in day out and while i dont see it the bottom line is there must be something there, just must be. This current owen hargreaves is god craze sweeping england is a clear indication of how fickle football fans are, so who knows, by christmas we may well be talking about fletcher in a positive way.

What i will say is this. I remember the first time i saw beckham, a champions league match and he was wide right. I thought what the hell is this, no pace couldnt beat a man, just looked ordinary. How wrong was I! So basically wht im saying is there are two types of young player that emerge, the likes of giggs who explodes onto the seen or others who progress more slowly. Fletcher has been ulucky in the sense that he hasnt come into a utd side that is winning and playing fluently, much easier to develop in those circumstances.

If none of the above is true then it is simply what it looks like, ferguson being stubborn and refusing to admit he's just not gd enough.
