I mean, do you caftards listen to shit music like coldplay, snow patrol and the killers or does anyone here like good music?

(obviously the words good and shit are subjectively arbitrary)

I like all of the above (killers esp) but my main tastes in music are Funky House, Hiphop and RnB. A little bashment sprinkles in with some electro and you have me :)

I like my 60s psychedelia and 50s/60s blues a lot so off the top of my head: The Doors, Love, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Elvis Presley, John Lee Hooker, BB King, Muddy Waters. God there's loads more bands I could name.

I also listen to hip-hop which is unusual for someone who likes the things I've mentioned.

im a young black male from an 'urban' area you should see peoples face when they hear bob dylan blasting out of my headphones

Spent my teens and twenties involved in the drum n bass scene. Lost interest about five years ago when (a) I stopped raving (b) I stopped doing so many drugs and (c) the music got a little stale.

Nowadays my 2 year old's nursery rhyme cd's are dominating the playlist. Shocking how many kids tunes I now know all of the words to.

Its funny how people change huh?

I love reggae/ragga/hip hop/soul , it surprises people when I tell them I really hate RnB. I can't stand this genre of music

I understand what you mean with this, i like hip hop, but mostly the funky stuff like format, blackalicious and that kinda thing as opposed to "hip-hop" like 5o cent. I fecking hate RnB, what the hell did they do to such an awesome genre. It was good waaaaay back in the day as rthymn and blues rathers than rappers and bitches.

Personally im a fan of early 90's rock like the pumpkins, soundgarden, pearl jam, pixies, alice in chains and stuff, especially when they sound a little 60's. Thats where i started out, but i also listen to alot of Beck Bjork and led zep.

I've been really getting into broken social scene of late, crap name, but great band

beatles/stones/zeppelin usually. But I try and listen to all sorts of music, and often go through phases of listening to a specific genre. At present, I haven't played much else but Jeff Buckley's 'Grace'. Probably because his song is currently in the charts.

Dunno really, a few bands have stuck with me over the years (Radiohead, The Beatles, Genesis etc) but I love discovering new bands and hearing them. MGMT are great, as are Sigur Ros, and Devotcha (they do the song off the GoW2 ad) but my favorite band at the moment are Alberta Cross. Found them cause they did a song on Californication and I love them now. They're a mix between Kings of Leon and blues I'd say, just look them up on the tube, "Low Man" and "The Devils all you ever had" are brilliant.

I listen to anything which sounds good, cba with all this genre shit, there's like a billion sub genres and crap too just to make artists sound more original -_- pfft, feck that.

I used to be into Hip-Hop/Rap, mainly Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, but the emergence of souljah boy etc has really spoilt it for me. Im now more into Ragga/Dancehall and Drum n Bass bhangra

:lol:me too. Used to be a huge fan.

These days I listen to anything that's interesting or a little different, from whatever genre. Some artists from the last week or so; Kate Bush, Aesop Rock, Gil Scott-Heron, Tiger Lillies, Dolly Parton, The Knife.

Mostly blues stuff, mainly rock blues from the 60's and 70's. Love my blues. Also 90's rock, both grunge and the british stuff.

Pretty varied really, Genesis, Level 42, Toto, Steely Dan, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, Brecker Brothers, Donald Fagen, Steve Vai, Herbie Hancock, Glenn Hughes, Joe Satriani, Led Zeppelin, Pat Metheny, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Queen, Stanley Clarke, George Duke off the top of my head.

I like Fela Kuti, Mercury Rev (91-95), Digable Planets, Gang Gang Dance, cLOUDDEAD, Darktrone, Hototogisu, Public Enemy and Vashti Bunyan, and that's it.

I don't mind Coldplay. Their latest album was shit though. And I'd like to think I have good taste in music.

Favourite artists: Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Marvin Gaye, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Arcade Fire, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Sigur Ros, Death Cab for Cutie.

Gotta love the Dylan. I get what you're saying though, most people are shocked when they hear I listen to that kind of music, as my appearance seems to suggest RnB, house, techno, etc.

my music taste has evolved massively over time ...

when I was a teenager I listened only to hiphop (the proper stuff, not the hippop shite that is in the charts today) - i then started listening to some jungle and d'n'b due to the MCing which lead me to electronic music in general and I used to follow particular labels like Mo Wax, Ninja Tune, Warp and Skint.
Also got exposed to more guitar based music when i went to Uni - belatedly started to get into some Madchester stuff (stone roses, inspiral carpets etc) and grunge (nirvana, soundgarden).

Nowadays I would say I have a pretty varied taste - the only music I have no time for is manufactured pop and maybe thrash/death metal.
Favorites include stuff like orbital, aphex twin, roots manuva, coldcut, dr dre, ian brown, aphrodite, tool, Man Utd chao, nitin sawney, massive attack, radiohead etc

Punk and Ska mostly, alongside hardcore/metalcore and so on. Though Gym Class Heroes are pretty much dominating my ipod at the moment

I would usually listen to progressive/psychadelic stuff like King crimson and Pink Floyd.

Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, Allman Bros, Cream, Stones, REM, as far as rock
Dylan, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles - those types for words and music.

Mostly classic rock music. My favourites are Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, most of Claptons work (Cream, Derek and the Dominoes and solo), Pink Floyd and The Who.

Of newer bands my absolute favourite is Rage Against the Machine.

I like liquid, but most of DnB is very repetitive. It gives me a fecking headache nowadays. I used to love it.

A good DnB remix is magical though... High Contrast

:)

For me Pink Floyd, Led Zepplin, Deep Purple, Eagles, Metallica and any go psychadelic and hard rock and new age electronica predominantly the ones before 97. Traditional Indian music, great fan of Tyagabrahma, always try to correleated his medeival compositions with modern jazz and also western classical compositions. Not a great fan of hip hop or techno jazz but like every other form of Jazz, these days Jazz fusion with Hindustani Music being my recent favourite.

I am still yong and so lerning Jazz piano, I can foresee greater things to happen in future

Metal, Hardcore, Post - Hardcore mainly but also stuff like Suede, Lightning Seeds, Oasis, The Verve etc. love good electronic music as well, stuff like Kavinsky and L.F.O (the ones that do "freak" and not that shit pop song) and also got into EPMD and Cage from the hip hop side of things as well.

But with all that said, if something takes my ear then i will listen to it.

Im really into my rock music at the moment. So artists like Pink, Britney Spears, Katy Perry.
