So, the City result wasn't proof of our improvement it was evidence of their decline

Maybe it was the eternal optimism of the United fan that saw more into the City result than was really there. It wasn't just the win, it was the manner of it and the fact that Amorim had demonstrated flashes of real tactical acumen. A sign of things to come and a boost for the rest of the season or so I thought. No, not really. All it has proved is that our neighbour's are in freefall. Oh and by the way, we are falling too and just as freely.

This is not about Amorim, he is completely blameless. The manager's arrival has only exposed the mess at the club. I am honestly coming round to the idea that the only way that we can given him a realistic chance of success is to put 3/4 of the squad up for sale and work towards a five year rebuild. This is not going to be fixed anytime soon.

I thought that was the general consensus to be honest

Were five minutes into a completely new system and half the players don’t fit

Very true. I do wonder if we’d buy in the Jan window because I could see us in a relegation scrap if this carries on. We need the right mould of players to build on the system.

Surely no-one thought a few mad minutes at the end of a game, stealing a win against a team on a worst run in 30 years was any sort of sign we were back on track>

Luckily the bottom 4 are especially crap and we're miles ahead.
But we could very easily finish 14th rather than even last year's seemingly at the time disastrous 8th.
