Just cant help but think your girl friend is one sad soul! Why does she want to join a football forum and chat on general issues only? It will be more appropriate if she finds some other chat room to chat with like minded people or just chatting with real people about non football stuff. Just my opinion. Maybe she wants to lurk on you, in which case, why do you allow that?

Well, it's hypothetically... she reads the forum while I post here when we're together, and she enjoys the humor and shares her opinions alongside me and said she might consider one day adding her 2 cents to a topic, just without be being there... i explained to her how the newbie to mains system worked and she didn't like it, so I figured i'd ask the question, harmlessly I thought but some here think it's some sort of strange problem
Well she's learning football, she'd start on here with general and once the seaosn kcisk off, she'd gradually get into conversations and such, she knows her sports, and she knows a bit of United, what better way to learn (And see what a feckered supportbase we have) than to chat on a forum?

Like I said, this is a hypothetical question, it's not happening anytime soon, and may never happen at all, but I was just wondering if there was some sort of special distribution of points for a related promotion, or (and what I expect to be the full on answer) id she'd have to do Newbs to Mains system.
I'm just saying Most of my rep came from the football forums, so how hard is it to get promotion via General which is what she'd be posting in the most.
If her posts in the General are funny or add something to the conversation then she stands a chance of getting promoted. But she will have to go through the newbies like everyone else

Well, it sounds like you are imposing something on her! And she is pleased to oblige! (sorry I am just looking at the situation basing on what you said) It's all good she is learning and trying on chatting on our forum, but what puzzling me is, why did she not just do it (like you said!) rather than having you asking the opinion of the members here and test the water??
If she is sincere about it, just do as anyone does, join and start it without having to ask a boy friend to be going on and on about how she is just learning, or just wanting to chat on the general? If she is interested anyway, there is nothing to stop her. Is she so young she has to be assured first?
