It won't detect any of the games when I put them into the console, I think it's fecked

Anyone else had similar problems?

Yeah, I've only had it since Christmas FFS.

Back to the Xbox

No disc is appearing under the menus

Tried both BR and DVD

Last resort, try an audio CD.

If that doesn't work, the entire optical disc unit has failed (at first I thought that maybe only the blue laser might have gone pop). Get the recipt and take it back to the shop where it was purchased.

I'm trying to download stuff on the ps3 but it keeps on saying this ' Insert storage media at the save destination' wtf does this mean?

My hard drove shit itself in the first week but they swapped it for a brand new one with no questions asked. Perfect since.

From a manufacturing fault rather than a design one. :wenger:
Still broke however you look at it. Out of the 7 PS3's sold Sony have to return one already. Tut Tut.

My XB360 still works as good as the day I bought it.

You must be one of he lucky few. Mine broke, sentit back for repair, broke again, so I traded the broken one in for a PS3 (They didn't even check it was working!)

Call sony and tell them the error code. They'll send you a replacement in days. Thats what they did for my mate.

Agreed. Sony's helpline are brilliant. You can contact them on 08705 998877.

My 5 month old PS3 started making load vibrating noises when i put a disc in.

I gave Sony a call and they offered to send a replacement out the next day.

I rejected the offer because it seems to be working fine now but its good to know that they will replace it without much fuss (Unlike the shitbox!!)

Consumer electronics devices do break, no matter who makes them, it's normal, and the average level is 2% for quality devices. Yours may still work, but this cannot be denied:

Microsoft has said that it is facing a bill of more than $1bn to cover the cost of offering extended warranties, after failings with its Xbox 360.

The company admitted it had been forced to make "an unacceptable number of repairs" to the consoles after key hardware failed.

Customers who suffer the problems will now be given a free three-year warranty, the company said.

The failures are indicated by three red flashing lights on the console.

Microsoft has not revealed how many of its machines have suffered the problem, but said the number was "bigger than we are comfortable with."

It added that the move - which will also see some people reimbursed for postage and repairs on consoles which were out of warranty - was aimed at keeping the loyalty of its customers.

"The majority of Xbox 360 owners are having a great experience with their console and have from day one," said Robbie Bach, president of Microsoft's Entertainment & Devices Division.

"But this problem has caused frustration for some of our customers and for that, we sincerely apologise."

It added its Xbox division was still expected to make a profit during the financial year beginning 1 July 2007.

We basically know that since then 33% of the units could be effected, and that the reason is a serious design fault and below par manufacturing facilities and quality control, basically down to rushing the thing out in order to get one up on Sony; which in the US they have succeeded in doing.

And despite all the problems it's still the XB360 outselling the PS3.

The red rings just adds to the whole legend of the console. It makes it what it is. We have 3 pretty lights you have some blue disk thingy.

I dont have to wrap my Xbox in a towel either

ok, only after we shower together and then make love but thats a different story

And despite all the problems it's still the XB360 outselling the PS3.

Only in North America, but I think that I already alluded to that. It's also into its third year where PS3 is only just entering its second. XBox also doesn't have a little brother that still sells shitloads (1.3m PS2s sold in North America during the Christmas shopping period). There is also not much difference in the number of consoles sold to the North American market at this same point in the life of both, even though for most of the time the PS3 has been some $200 more expensive. Where XBox360 is really kicking its arse is in software sales, even though I will say that after a year of both, the PS3 has a higher quality and diverse selection than XB360 had after a year.

In all seriousness, it's 2008 that will settle this for the longer term, and it will mainly come down to Sony's software lineup and if they can get the price down to $299 for Christmas. Not actually sure what the Blu-ray effect will be. Neither console is anywhere near mass market yet, neither is the Wii; everything is still there to play for.

I have a 360, but i used to be realy big on sony, i had ps1, ps2 sony tv's etc. i bought the 360 mainly because of the price, and i am very pleased with my choice. Ive had it for over 1 year now and it hasnt failed on me once, my cousin on the other hand has had 7 different 360's and is now considering getting a PS3. Anyway so far the 360 has better games out and has more exclusives than the PS3, although, that can all change what with GT and Haze coming out soon it could get pretty even, also most of the games that were released for 360 a year ago are just starting to come out for the PS3 i.e Lost Plannet.

Personaly i feel in 1-2 years time the PS3 will win for it would have caught up with the 360 game wise and IMO bluray will beat HD-DVD. Also sony may lower the price even more in that time....

Well thats my take on it....starting to wish i got a PS3 now:D but i do love my 360 :D

P.S the Wii sucks

That happened to me a bit with my PS2. It's not your disks, it's the console. All that happens is that dust and grime settle onto the laser reader meaning that it can't read the c'ds properly. Just send it to a general electrics store, it's easy to fix and costs no more than 5 pounds.

It's brand new. Unless he's a chain smoker and has been blowing 200 fags worth of smoke down the disk slot for the last 4 weeks I doubt that's the problem. If anything is likely to bust on the PS3 it's the optical drive, it's just too new, and it's complex.
