It's Ours For Keeps
I reckon you will..the Hungarians are an appalling team, and I reckon you'll knock 3 or 4 past them...

The only danger for you IMO is that I can see them scoring..then you will need 3 and it could all get a bit tense...

What say you?

I agree. 3 or 4. Even if they got another one, we'd still have them.

I'd be very surprised if they don't go through.

Then again I thought they would stroll past them last night.

Its a funny old game.... ;)

Not at all confident. They will just defend in numbers, not even bothering to attack. It'll be far harder than last night, and we didn't break them down then. I can only hope that they are intimidated by OT, but I suspect the crowd will be very nervous and quiet. I just hope we don't get any more injuries between now and then.

It'll be very tense, and I'm not at all too confident. I think we'll scrape through with a 2-0 win tho...

I'm not sure defending in numbers will help...their defence was all over the shop last night and I can't see them holding out if they just let you come on to them with wave after wave..

They need to keep possession to frustrate you I reckon..and look for openings in your defence which will no doubt come

You're right, and I'm not optimistic. 60 % chance I reckon. If they go 1-0 up we're in the shit, because it's a different story to score 3 in such a situation.

The Hungarians were terrible indeed. United should have been 3 or 4 up yesterday (and that despite playing one of ur worst games since Mark Robins was getting us out of jail....)

I expect (and demand considering the diffirence in wages of the players at the two clubs) nothing less than a very very convincing victory.

They closed us down much better than we did them, I'm sure they'll keep that up in the home leg. It'll be a very similar game tactically from them, its us who has to adapt.

Troublemaker. ;)

Will Rio be back and fit by then?

You had big enough cracks in your defence last night, with OG now out you need Rio back more than ever, otherwise i'm not convinced you will stop them banging at least one in...

Rio should be back for the Chelsea game, so yes, I would think he will be playing, not sure whether O'Shea or Blanc will partner him though. I'd have O'Shea.

There was some poor finishing from your boys..and a few problems with the final ball..

But if you get an early goal against them they could cave in..

Hope not mind... ;)

I thought they gave the ball away very easily in midfield...too often looking for a pass that was simply not on..

Us you mean?

No them..they seemed to get excited easily..

You lacked cohesion..Keane was very quiet and Veron leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the park..

Beckham was quiet and didn't get much of the ball..and Giggs was poor in a game he should of dominated in.

They were sh!t, we were marginally better. Two weeks time, with games under our belts, they will still be sh!t, we will be a lot better.

We hope.

When have United ever not done things the hard way in European competition?

One things for sure though. If we go out of the CL there won't be any new players for the rest of the season.

GRRRRRR Plucky Hungarian bastards!

despite that pathetic performance last night, we will get through. by the time we play them at OT, we'll have played west brom and chelsea, and got some of our match sharpness back.

I hope to God we go through. Can't believe you thought we would stroll last night. Couldn't imagine it, away in Hungary, first game of the season, all that.

But fingrs crossed in two weeks.

Imcidently, I would play the same team if Rio, Wes and Gary are still injured.

I think we've got a decent chance if:

1) we don't get a freak storm with windy, blustery conditions and the pitch remains decent to play on

2) we play 4-4-2 with both Ole and Ruud healthy and playing

For this return leg, I 'd like to see a midfield of Keane, Beckham, Giggs and Scholes. Although Giggs hasn't been playing well, he's the only player we've got who can run at players and break down a defence. We have to hope that he'll have the kind of game we all know he's capable of producing.

I thought Seba was okay yesterday but we all know that in 2 weeks time they're just going to stack everyone in the back and defend. I think we need every player capable of scoring on that pitch and with Scholesy, he can always score a goal from anywhere at anytime.

it was noticeable the other night that zta started nervously, knowing how good we are/reputation etc, then as the game wore in and they got a couple of openings they grew in confidence and had a go at us at times.
we need OT to be a cauldron in two weeks, to intimidate zta away from their concentration and get that fear back. then we'll overrun them, but if on the other hand we give them free confidence early on I dread another of those long nights.

They bloody well better put it right. That was appalling the other night, and totally unacceptable.

We must have been the bleedin laughing stock of Europe, when we should have been sending out a message of intent.

I'd predicted 6-0 over there. That had better be closer this time round.

I'm hungary errr hungry that is.

That'll teach ya.

 When are people going to realise that you can't predict in football.

And how many times do United have to perform badly against "inferior" opposition before we stop taking it for granted that we're going to win.
