Thankfully the protracted departure of the Expos from Montrebec has finally come to pass. There will be no regrets from me, the only people that will miss L'Expos are the 40-something sportscasters that watched them play before the BlueJays took over. On second thoughts, I will miss Youppi, the only mascot ever ejected from a game (from what I've heard) for doing something to upset Tommy Lasorda. So in memory of Youppi I post a photo of the big Muppet for all to enjoy!

That's Youppi on the left...

Yeah good thing they left, there've been speculation about it for years and nobody was watching them/or caring anyways.

Baseball is the most boring sport ever (trust the yanks to make them the best payed athletes though) so no big loss there.

I wonder what they'll do with that big f*ck off olympic stadium mind.

to be honest, i felt sorry for the Expos fans.
yeh, got me wonder why they built a capacity of 46500 but there's only 9000 max fans showing up for those baseball games... tonight they recorded 31395 (?), think this is the most people showing up for the baseball game in a decade
wondering why those expos defensive plays are that shit -_-''

They built the stadium for the 74 olympics games Jacqueline.

Well DC here they come.
From what I've read DC has agreed to a deal which is extremely friendly to the Owner and to MLB. I'm glad I don't live in DC (I live across the river in Virginia) 'cos despite the assurances of the mayor I'd imagine that the people that live there will be the ones that end up paying for it. so, it's the best of both worlds for me. I go watch a game and I won't have to pay the taxes to support it.

really...
so is that CFL football team - Montreal Alouettes, sharing the ground with the Expos?

It's wrong, of course. D.C. is an American League town [actually, first in war, first in peace, and last in the American League], so the Expos shouldn't be moving there.
Paying of Angelose up in Baltimore was also a crock. I don't believe the original Senators were given much, if anything, when the St. Louis Browns moved to Baltimore in 1954. Figuring in the amount they should have been paid and 50 years interest, Pete probably owes the owners of the mew Washington Senators a few million.

No, the Allouettes Play at the McGill whatshisname stadium.

Canada isn't a baseballing nation. We should take the Blue Jays as well.

Hell, while we Americans are in the process of stripping Quebec of all of its sports teams, why not take the Montreal Canadiens as well ;)

Be my guest...the trouble is there are too many American cities with NHL teams that can't support them already. Washington D.C. is one that comes to mind.

D.C. only seems to care about the NFL. How many baseball teams have failed there already? At least with the Expos moving there (what are they going to be called anyway?) the US can see what their gov is spending their money on.

Such hostility ;). I was only slightly serious. By the way, you said you are an ex-pat. What is your original country?

But you are right. I would move Washington and Florida back up to Canada. Give one back to Quebec and another to Winnipeg.

Just hope they don't name the club the Grays.

Senators is the right name for historical reasons and brings instant noteriety to the club. I also like the Nationals. And this one - Pioneers - which is one I coined.

That's two-time World Series Champion Toronto Blue Jays to you sir!

Not meant to be that hostile, really. Trouble with print, no subtlety
I'm English (the passport proves it). Dad's an Irishman, Mum's from Surrey.

Keep 'em. We don't need no stinkin' Panthers. The less said about the Caps, the better!

The Senators are a perennially under-achieving hockey club in Ottawa.
The Nationals is confusing since they will play in the National League.
Pioneers is good, I think there might be a team already called that.
I think they should call them 'The Interns' :D .

 SO TRUE!!!!!!!

The only satisfaction I get from watching Toronto get knocked out of the playoffs is that I know full well Ottawa and Montreal will surely get knocked out as well.

The Leafs usually last longer - they take the blue pill. In fact, isn't it the Leafs that regularly knocks out the Sens?
