Don't think there is any doubting that a slim PS3 will be released sooner or later, Sony did it with the PS1, PS2 and the PSP, and a slim PS3 looks to be on the way.

Hopefully we will see another price cut when it is released and we will most likely see it released when a big exclusive is coming out, whether it be Killzone, MGS4, FF, GT5 or another, we'll just have to wait and see.

It is fake, it's been going around for well over two weeks. It's an artists impression of what a slim may or may mot look like. It's foul in any case.

When they get to 45nm, they can start to think about doing this, as they can remove a lot of the cooling systems. However, you still need space in there to put a hard disk and a BD drive.

They will be making one though, IBM confirmed that they've started making Cell chips 40% (I think?) smaller, which means far less heat and less need for fans. Sony will surely release a slimmer version. Can't see them doing it for another year at least though.
