New channel from Sky which started the other evening in the UK.

Recorded Broadwalk Empire and Blue Bloods.

Both seem pretty good.

Anyone else getting involved with either of these shows and what do you make of the new channel?

I was literally just about to start a thread on this bemoaning the fact that it's not on virgin media. Looks like it's set to be a very good channel.

I've just 'acquired' season 1 of Boardwalk and will be looking to get the Blue Bloods episodes too I reckon.

Recorded boardwalk, but haven't watched it yet. They're showing season 1 of Curb your enthusiasm on monday nights which is definately worth a watch!

Its good. Like above I have series link for Boardwalk Empire. 2nd is on tonight.

It had the pilot of the x-files today which I enjoyed

They had the ER pilot on today too. Clooney with dark hair is just too strange!

Saw an advert earlier for a show with John Goodman about New Orleans which looked good, it was from the same people as The Wire and I think I saw the bloke who played Lester Freeman in it too. Can't remember what it was called but said 'coming soon' and looked quite good.

That was it, will give it a look at see, thought it looked promising but it's tough to tell from trailers.

It is popular, I may also give it another go as I was just watching it from downloads which is not always great.

I like how they've got a mixture of new and old all starting from their pilots, it's been so long since i'd seen the Voyager pilot for example....great nostalgia!

Never saw X-Files though so was cool to see the pilot today

:eek::eek:

That was one of my favourite shows when I was younger, absolutely brilliant.

Going to have my first look at Boardwalk Empire tonight, see if it lives up to the hype.

What happened to The Soprano's, which was being advertised for broadcast on Wednesday evenings?

Watched the first Blue Bloods, thought it was a pile of toss. Bar Selleck but he's a relative (literally) bit part

Loving Broadwalk Empire though, bit perturbed its usually on at 9pm Saturday, would have preferred that time midweek myself, least it doesn't clash with ant footy

Yet to watch Blue Bloods, Boardwalk has been enjoyable so far (the butler in the first episode is ) Sopranos is also set to record as is 'You Don't Know Jack'.

Hopefully it stays free.

I've been watching Blue Bloods, Boardwalk Empire, Treme and How to Make it in America.

Blue Bloods is a light, well made - albeit cliched - cop show.
Boardwalk Empire is a really good show, though I find it lacks something, though I'm not sure what.
Treme is a pretty interesting show but it has a tendency to smother itself in pretension. The musical sequences feel a bit forced and some of the characters are so two dimensional that you wonder how David Simon is responsible for them.
How to make it in America is by the makers of Entourage and is set around a bunch of twenty somethings who are too hip to kip. There are occasional moments of humour but I can see myself drifting away from it if it doesn't improve. Far too many of the main characters are cnuts.

Been watching Blue Bloods myself, and I'm enjoying it. It is cliched like you say but it's a decent watch.
Not got round to watching Treme yet, I have it on the HDD but for some reason haven't felt like watching it.

Boardwalk Empire is a brilliant show. It gets better as the season goes on, stick with it.

I saw ads for Bored to Death. Anyone seen it?

Yeah, I like Boardwalk, there's just something intangible that stops it from being one of my favourite shows.

Bored to Death is absolutely brilliant. Fantastic cast. It takes a couple of episodes but it really warms up by the middle of the first season.

Isn't it part of the Variety pack, or something like that? I don't think it will be a standalone subscription channel.

Surely they'd put it with the entertainment pack instead of charging it as a stand-alone channel.

I'm looking forward to seeing Game of Thrones next month, that looks interesting. Boardwalk goes at a slow pace but there always seems to be something in each episode which keeps you interested, I expect the action to pick-up from next week.

I realise that this is very vague but does anybody know what the music is on some of the latest Sky Atlantic adverts? It's a dramatic orchestral score that I just can't figure out what it's from - I've tried searching for it but just cannot find it (this may be down to my incompetence).
