Watching clips of the Queen has made me think of our very own legend Sir Bobby Charlton. I find it really alarming he's not been seen or talked about for such a long time.

Is there any news on him and his health?

Wasn't he diagnosed with dementia?

There won't be much(good) news on him from now on unfortunately.

Lost 2 grandparents to it and it will just get steadily worse until the inevitable happens sadly

I lost one to it and now my second is also near to the end with it. Absolutely terrible illness. My nan practically became a different person. It's horrible to watch.

I hope Sir Bobby enjoys the rest of his life as well as he can.

Sorry to hear that man, it’s such a shame to watch that happen to people we love so much. Just remember all of the happy memories you have of them, write them down and keep them. When they finally go, don’t let that horrible disease be what you remember of them, because as you said, it’s a different person to the one you had all those beautiful memories with.

I'd be exponentially more bothered about Sir Bobby kiffing it than I was the queen.

He has dementia. That is far more tragic than when he actually passes. At 84 he has had an amazing life and will be celebrated

Thanks man. Sorry to hear about yours, too. I have been trying to remember the good memories. Writing them down would be a good idea. My nan was always a very funny woman. I remember a lot of the funny things she said. My grandad is in a nursing home now. We were told he had about 2 months to live, but who knows if that'll be the case. He's not on the same level my nan was, but he's struggling to communicate and can't walk any more. Can't really do anything for himself.

I always knew dementia was bad, but I don't think I realised how bad until I saw it with my own eyes.

yeah it really is horrible. Worse than cancer in my eyes.

Make sure you're there for your parent too - it will be rough for them to see their dad like that. Call/see them more than you usually would, be a positive presence around them and support them if/when you can.
I wish I could give more advice my friend - I wish you and your family all the best

Bloody hell, got a fright there you silly 2@t

It is an age thing mate and footballers age as well.
They're 3.5 times more likely to get it . Getting hit in the head isn't good for anyone, but at least the modern balls are pretty lightweight and they are informed of the risks.

The risk for a boxer must be off the charts then?

At least they're more aware of the risks in the modern era. Main event at MMA this weekend, 2 guys who've been battered around the head for about 30 years between them, will be a sad sight in 20 years or so, can see the damage they've done when they speak and it's not going to improve.
