Sir Alex Ferguson taught me everything - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Love him and was convinced he’d be a top manager. Sadly seems to lack the ruthlessness in management that he had so much of in his playing career. Almost guaranteed a goal when up front and then softened the blow of losing Becks on the right until his knees gave in. 20legend

Out of all our ex players, he was the one I was hoping would manage us one day. Especially after a bright start at Molde.

I do think Ole could still manage us one day. He is still a young man and the experience at Cardiff will have definitely taught him a few lessons and I am not sure anyone could have succeeded in the midst of all of that drama. He is doing a great job again with Molde and if he can parlay that into a bigger job somewhere and continue to do well then I would certainly think he deserves a look somewhere down the road. He gets what the club is about and his teams are entertaining, could do a lot worse.

I feel Solskjaer deserves another chance in the PL. If memory serves he had a disaster with a Cardiff side that was an absolute basket case and then he went back to Norway and he's not been considered since. Well managers like Pardew and McClaren keep getting jobs in the PL and Championship despite constantly flopping.

Obvious clickbait title. It's hardly like Solskjaer was born in an embryonic state under Old Trafford.

Title of article
Sir Alex Ferguson: Former Man Utd boss taught me everything - Old Gunnar Solskjaer

Quote from Ole
"Everything I know about managing top footballers I learned from him."

It's a little bit clickbaity but I've seen far worse and isn't a million miles from what he said. Plus, lots of people have common sense, and assume he's talking from a football management perspective rather than from when he was born.

Pretty sure that Cardiff would've gone down with almost any manager at the reins. Would've been fun to see him manage a PL team again.

What kind of football does Molde play?

Top scorers in the last Eliteserien by 12 goals. Scored 3 or more goals in a third of their league games. I'd say fairly attack focused.

What kind of football does Molde play?

Comfortably the most fluid and attacking in the league. High energy, interchanging play, stretch the play with wide wingers to create openings through the middle.

They put 9 past Brann who had a stern defence this season (22 conceded in the other 28 games). Absolutely battered champions Rosenborg, somehow only ended 1-0:

The only reason they didn't win the league this year was because they were lacking a creative force during the first half of the season. Eikrem rejoined in the summer, instantly made them tick and since then they were pretty much unstoppable. Funnily enough Eikrem plays on the left of a midfield three, so I wouldn't doubt OGS using Pogba in that position and getting the best out of him.

I can confirm I want to be the next manager. Merry Christmas.

Thanks, sounds exciting. How does he set them up without the ball? Is he a retreat and wait to close off space or he wants to engage?

How strong is the league compared to the Championship or League 1? - genuine question, not being sarcastic.

Players...moving? Off the ball?

What kind of madness is that?

I'm expecting Martinez vibes.

Over simplifying it but good attacking football with movement, decent tactics and set up. Defensively suspect/neglectful.

Wingers? Wing play what is this you speak of?

Seriously though he'll need to buy a few in January then, it seems like winger has been a dirty word at United the last few years.

That's very impressive football, brilliant movement off the ball and some great 1 touch football. With the right high quality players he could do wonders.

Good to hear that he's a progressive manager. Ideally what we want is the high potential players of the team - Pogba, Martial, Rashford and other could be important ones - Shaw, Bailly, Fred etc in a good shape for next season which is a big one. If Ole can manage to do that, then he'll have done his job. Nobody is expecting top 4. That would be unrealistic IMO.

That quote about pogba sounds fairly prescient, what question or point is he answering?
My guess it was him talking about him after the world cup/before the season as there was so much talk about Pogba at that time?

We don't have any wingers. All we have is young and Valencia .

Sounds exciting.

As i said in the other thread. This is actually a great idea. Ole can weather us through the season to wait for the summer for Poch. No way in hell Poch would leave now while he's getting spurs out of the group stage. Plus former players tend to do good with clubs they are familiar with lately. No better person knows Utd then ole. Especially from his view is the *prime United team*. He'll have the idea to make us an attacking team.

Of course, only a numpty wouldn't have learned from Sir Alex. Like Moyes. God I hate Moyes.

I don't want to jinx it but I've a feeling Ole will do for us as manager what he did on the pitch...The next Pep!

Don't do it to yourself mate, it's not worth it. No way is this happening

If he does well, then why bother with Poch???
