Sir Alex Ferguson proves it yet again.

This season has seen him address the weakness at the back beyond our wildest dreams.

Blanc, O'Shea, Brown, Silvestre, Neville x2, Ferdinand all fighting for places.

And all footballers.

I would trust any combination.

Is there any comparison in Europe let alone the league? <img src="graemlins/devil.gif" border="0" alt="[Devil]" />

We would have done a lot better last year had we played O'Shea from the start instead of playing Ronny Johnson out of sentiment...

I dont think he was played out of sentiment.

Ronny was another great footballing centre half in the Alex Ferguson tradition.

He left Hansen out of Mexico '86 cos he didnt rate him as a footballer.

There was also the little fact that just as O Shea cemented his place in the team in our Nov/Dec resurgence he was injured and out of contention for much of December and January and never really won his place back.

Ronnie was a class player and you can't begrudge him his place. Both Wes and John have come on well because of the experienced players around them and given that both John and Wes have had stop start careers through injury, the example of Ronnie who suffered similarly is a good one for them.
