Sir Alex advice for January from World Football Geeks

I thought a thread dedicated to players who are available, realistic and possible signings for United come January would be useful.

Unfortunately I am not a "World Football Geek" so my list would not be much good, but I do know there are a few knowledgeable chaps on here so lets have it...

I am also curious as I can't see who would be worth bringing in midway through a season or what clubs would likely sell.
 
Has Beckham signed for anyone?
 
We shouldn't just buy for the sake of numbers. Maybe go for someone like Rodwell.
 
Rodwells injury prone himself. Plus he's really not proved anything and would cost a pretty penny. I think a longer term solution would be in the summer (if needs be) but I think from within or maybe a short term deal
 
Why has nobody thought about making a thread about midfielders we could buy before?
 
Would absolutely love to see Beckham back short-term.

But the major problem is whether the "money-whore" would compromise on his wages.

I don't think the bolded part is in question, he would drop any demands to play here, that much is obvious. However I can't see anyway that SAF would bring him back.
 
Gourcuff on loan could to the trick.

isn't the Brazilian/Argentinian season just finishing? its preseason in Russia and scandanavia as well

might have been a prospect there that would be available

more realistically we'll make do until the summer

seems silly though as we cant rely on Jones in midfield as he'll probably be needed in defence - we'll need carrick and giggs to stay fit which is a big ask over the next 6 months

i think we might have to promote Pogba a bit earlier - could be useful in getting him tied to a contract
 
Why are you guys making a mockery of this thread? We can compile a list and send it in the letter to SAF. Registered mail and all. He reads letters and not message board shite.

Russia is different this season. They are changing it over to a model that looks more like what we're used too. They have a longer season to adjust that. Won't finish until next spring.
 
If I was the manager, with all the problems we have had this season, Id dip heavily into the transfer market in January.

I'd buy a more experienced goalie, Buffon. de Gea is not a title winning goalie.

We need a right back, I'd go for Maicon. Adds experience to the youngsters.

Evra has been playing poorly for the last year, and we are lacking in numbers at left back, so I'd add a left back too. Lahm would be perfect for us.

With Vidic our for a year and Rio only a quarter of the player he used to be, I'd replace them with Cahill and Luisao.

Nani is too inconsistent, needs someone to keep him on his toes, so I'd add Gaitan from Benfica.

Everyone knows our midfield problems, I'd sort it buy getting Sneijder and de Rossi.

Young doesn't seem able to make the step up from Villa, I'd go all out to get Bale, maybe using Young and Anderson to swap.

With half our strikers out injured and Rooney being consistently incosistent, I'd sell him to Real Madrid for cash + Higauin, and partner him with Ba from Newcastle.

This team would give us a much better chance of challenging City than the current one.

Probably wouldn't be able to get all of them, but most of would be feasible.
 
You haven't a clue, CnutOfAllCnuts. One injury in midfield, and you're back with Carrick. Need a third midfield player at least.

You're right, of course.

I'd sell Carrick and Gibson to make the funds available for Rodwell.
 
thats brilliant that - even better for the fact that Tevez did actually come to us a couple of years later!

You serious!?? You want to sell one of our best midfielders this season and a great squad player, just to buy an injuryprone youngster who is still unproven in the league?? feck sake..
