Is there a better left back than him in Europe? we can talk about Roberto Carlos but the feedback i get from some spansih friends, they r also Real Madrid Supporters say is been a bit complacent this season.
ive always though since last season their ain't a better left back.

i personally like Christian Chivu of Ajax. I think Ashley Cole is also effective in that area. Le Saux seems to be doing a better than good job at Chelsea this season.

I think silvestre is among the top left back in the world at the moment.. his break through into the French team should say enough about how he's competing with Lizarazu in that position for the national side..

he's actually one of the few players at United that i thought has not been a let down this season (and also last..)

Silvestre has phenominal pace, he scares the shit out of wingbacks.

A 40yd free kick and my money's on RC though.

I heard that as of last season he was on the trsfr list is this true?

i don't follow the spanish league news, but i very much doubt it.. i think Real lacks a lot of depth in defence.. they can't afford to lose RC IMO.

Gifted player but I'm afraid he is the defensive version of Georghe "Romanian Tantrum" Hagi. I watched him twice this week and got sent off in both games. He just leaves the pitch as if he doesn't fecking care! And no, don't give me all that "SAF will get his attitude sorted" BS.

As for Bobby Carlos, his marking/positioning is as UNDERrated as his free kicks are OVERrated. Still the best.

really? i never thought he had attitude problems.. isn't he the captain of the side?

and no, i really wouldn't get into SAF sorting his attitude out.. i don't think SAF is up for this kind of job anymore to tell you the truth.. but we're not discussing SAF in this thread so let's keep our ideas focused!
:)

Silvestre, despite his improvements over the past 6-12 onths is still a bit off Iriwn in terms of defensive abilities, sort that out which is the simplest part of being a ful back and hell be te worlds best, no doubt.

i dont't think ashley cole has been up to scratch this season, he's made some terrible mistaked this season.chivu seems like a player who is getting better all the time, not better than silvestre though.

Silvestre is class. He is a great source of goal.

(And btw, to whoever said it, Carlos is dreadful at freekicks. And this isn't sarcasm.)

Agreed! Silvestre is a very good fullback with extreme pace ( which he should use more often), but IRWIN is THE best fullback I´ve ever seen. He was comfortable in defence, crossed really good and when(on rare occassions) he was 1 to 1 with the oppositions goalkeeper U didn´t expect him to miss. D I The one and only

Carlos is crap at freekicks, he only kicks it real hard and hopes for the best. Rarely ever scores out of a freekick, and just popped onto a Real Madrid forum where they have threads complaining on why the feck he's taking freekicks instead of Zidane and Figo after he's shot another few out of the Bernabeu.

I think Silvestre is up there with the best few left backs around, Riise is playing well too, Cole has been poor recently but still talented, Bridge is another good player. There are very few super leftbacks in the world at the minute.
