'tis a silly place
Micky has said he will hold out for more money before signing his latest contract.

"I love Man United and their fans" said Silvestre. "I want to stay at the club, but I need to be given a deal that mirrors my status as a regular team member, and a fully-fledged international."

"Don't get me wrong, I'm not asking for silly money. I know I can't command the same wages as the likes of David Beckham or Juan Veron, but I do know what I'm worth and deserve."

"I am a free agent in nine months time and I will probably have a number of interesting offers once the transfer window re-opens. I guess that puts more emphasis on the club's board to make a reasonable proposition. I hope we find an agreement soon."

Makes the signing Escude of added importance. Hope we get this sorted out asap.

Yeah, judging from his words, he likes it at OT and if he's given a reasonable offer he'll sign it, simple as that. I just hope we dont wait too long until other clubs are allowed to contact him. <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Another plus from the article I read is that he is no longer making silly threats about playing at CB. His best position is LB and he understands that now.

I think he is right to wait for what he deserves, he has improved dramtically the last few seasons.

He has improved no doubt about it but he still makes too many silly mistakes IMO to be classed as a top class defender but if he continues him improvements he'll get there!

He's good enough to play more or less every match for United. Ever since he came to United he has improved and IMO he's still very much improving.

Left footed players are few and we have a good one in Micky. Selling him/letting him go would be a big mistake IMO and I can't see it happen.

Also, signing soon would be a big plus. Soon we'll see lots of 'Silvestre is talking to ...' and that can't do him or United any good.

cant think of many mistakes he's made this season. I think this season he's made a real effort to not get caught out of position and being that little bit more careful in defence.

Agree, very consistant this season. Good crosses too.

Dunno what Mikhael's earning (anybody know ?) but he has been influential in MU's recent success and deserves to be paid accordingly. Attitude, skill, workrate, all good.

I'm quite surprised we still haven't extend his contract yet, as he has been our first team member and in our starting eleven for a few years now. Although I'm confident that he will stay I still hope a new contract can be signed asap.
