Manchester United are prepared to offload left-back Mikael Silvestre to Juventus.
With United confident of securing Rennes' Julien Escude ahead of the August 31 transfer deadline, Silvestre is tipped to make way.

Juve are in the market for a new left-sided defender and have been monitoring Silvestre's progress over the last 12 months.

From TribalFootball, so they'll have got the link from some Italian paper probably. I wouldn't be surprised by this, because I've said for ages that Silvestre's place was under threat and SAF has been trying to replace him. However good and promising Escude is though I'd be surprised if he was considered ready to be a replacement and a first teamer, rather than cover for a more experienced player. But if you're good enough, you're old enough.

then it doesnt solve our numbers problem, although if it makes Mikael happy whats there to say?
will he refuse to move if they dont guarantee him a CB place?

What I don't understand is why Mickey thinks he'd be good at CB, he's not suited to it imo.

In future could people posting quotes from TribalFootball make sure that "TribalFootball" is at the top and in bold. It'll save us reading any further.

Of could just NOT post the waste of space in the first place.

ps. I went down to OT earlier for a few bits and bobs. Monday afternoon and the place was heaving. How the clubs stays afloat I just dont know ;)

May be he thinks he has better chance to succeed Desaily/Leboeuf than Lizarazu/Candela?

Could be good business. How much would we get for MS, about £6/7 million? Replace him with Escude and have Tierney as back up. SAF has been talking about Tierney and rates him highly and then we have a few more ££ to go towards a striker. :p

This story has made it to a few other sites now, because the original source was the Italian press. If we get Carini on a loan move with a clause to buy next summer, with Silvestre going the other way. We don't know if the Sorin move is dead or not, certainly the Stam money situation hasn't been resolved, seems that there would be a few million left over from that transaction. We still haven't got our 4th striker yet, and while we're still trying to get one SAF has just said "The big problem is 'who do you go and buy to keep the strength of the squad up?' The good players have all gone by now and this is totally the wrong time in the summer to be looking around." Which is a bit worrying regarding that position.

Where are they goin' to get the money? Don't forget, Italian football is leading to bankruptcy. We should keep Sylvestre I'd say.

Rio will make the difference...

Sorry mate, I asked the same question in the scholes or veron thread without seeing yours here. I'd say no, but please take Veron instead. ;)
