Why do you think O'Shea's not ready for midfield yet? What does a defensive midfield player need?
1. Ability to tackle. O'Shea is second to only a few in the league here.
2. Engine to run. Same thing, O'Shea can run all day, I believe.
3. Support in attack. He can go up all right.
The only thing that I have not seen him do much is having a short link play which is quite important in midfield. He may have it for all I know. But, with the qualities he already has, I think he more than qualifies to play in midfield. Because, above all, he plays with heart.
Having said that, I think Phil Neville has not done much wrong in the defensive midfield position this season and it might be a good idea to stick with him there and try O'Shea in the same position by swapping with Phil when things are comfortable or something of the sort.
