If he's fit should Fergie play him, risking further injury and maybe have to miss Bayer? With Becks and Keano out we can't afford not to have him on Wednesday yet we need to beat the rent boys tomorrow. A dilema. I believe he should be rested till next week. Right now the EC is in our own hands whereas we need someone to f up for the PL.
Interesting.

Veron's not an enigma. He's a proven World Class player. Trouble is at United he's not top dog, yet. With Keano and Becks in the team he's 3rd fiddle and he knows it. Without them he can really come into his own as he showed against Depor. The Barcas and Juves and Lazios know him well which is why they are willing to go overboard to get him. He's still not fit perfectly into the Utd side this year but his time will come. I think too he's used to a slower game and not the frantic passing that United are so good at. He's also Argentina's regular free kick taker in a goal scoring position and I think he misses that at Utd. I do believe next year will see him take off and there'll be no doubts as to his worth. He's second in the league with passing already, only Becks beating him so far. A couple of his trademark goals and he'll be up there with the best at United.

of course Veron should play. the reason he has not always been as brilliant as one would expect is that there were more creative players in midfield. Without Keane and Beckham the majority of attacks will go through Veron, giving him a chance to get into the game and giving him the space to be the player he can be.

I expect a weakened team and I can certainly see the likes of Michael Stewart playing :cool:

if fit
play;
else
rest;
end if;

4 games left in the EPL, and I said this before in a previous post, this is not the time where we rest players. If the player is fit, then the player is needed and should play.

i hope they play a weekened team because the prem should be forgotten about and the ec should now be our main priority.i hope i'm not tempting fate but if fergie plays a strong team its possible against the dirty chelsea to pick up a few injuries.

We should play the strongest possible team.
Bit concerned about your use of the phrase "hope they play a weekened team..." Why "they" mate? Not a badly disguised wind-up I hope.
;)

if fit and Sir Alex still has his sights set on the title, by all means play him. But if he was a doubt, only a fool would risk him.

Veron was given the freedom of the park against Depor.

Petit and Lampard will be on him like a pack of dogs and kick him all around Stamford Bridge. Our midfield selection will need to reflect that.

Leave him out to get fit for Bayer, and put plenty of muscle and running in the midfield today.

Another excellent tactical decision by SAF today.

I don't think Veron would have made any difference to today's result. He could make ALL the difference on Wednesday.

Glad Fergie took my advice. The lads did marvelous today without their three International World Cup captains. Leaving out Veron was a tough one but the rest came through. So proud to be a red.

At least Fergie showed some respect for Chelsea by selecting a good side.
