Should Becks & Rio be thrown into the title decider?

Essentially, that is what the game is, we win, being just 3pts behind with half a team to come back, there will be no stopping us.

We lose and 9pts could be too big a gap...

Becks & Rio are rumoured to be fit for the game (source)

Do we throw England's best 2 players into the biggest game of the PL season?

I'd go for it, views?

id be doubtful about throwing Ferdinand in. he hasnt impressed me so far. certainly not as good as the other young lads have been so far.

We can throw them onto the bench. Starting them against the Arse is too risky. If you're not 100%, you're dead.

I don`t think that Rio and Becks will be fit for Arsenal. But if they are, I still wouldn`t start them. The team did very well in the last games(Never change a winning game) and they can`t be 100 % after a few weeks off. If fit, Veron,Rio and Becks can be on the bench and if things against Arsenal don`t work , they can come on as subs to change things.

I know what they say about not changing a winning team, but I just think that Viera will be too strong in the middle of the park for Fortune and Becks would probably do a better job. Being England captain, Becks will probably get away with kicking Viera a few times and hopefully incite him to get sent off... ;)

I know I don't like changing a winning formula, but is a young and yes still not fully experience JOS and a fresh from injury Wes Brown going to be able to stop Henry, I personally think that is what we needed Rio in the first place, he can handle him, I'm not sure about the other two. Don't get me wrong I love them both and am incredibly excited about the future of our backline, but at the current time, we need Rio in there.

Absolutely not. Even if they are fit they still won't be 100% fit. The only player I think will make a different and should immediately throw back when fit is Keano. In case of Beckham, Rio and Veron, they should sit on the bench first and come in only when the situation looks bad.

There's a fine line between rewarding those none automatic choice players who've come in and done so well, and bringing back your, on paper, better players.

It'll be nice to see a stronger bench at least.

The bench on Saturday 'could' be: Becks, Rio, Keane & Seba ! What's that worth ??

:D

I suspect from the Worthington Cup game that Fergies thinking of playing JOS in midfield as the holding player, which might mean Rio will be back, so a back four of Gaz, Micky, Rio & Wes with JOS replacing Fortune in midfield. I agree with many here that I wouldn't rush players back from injury in this game, have them on the bench just in case. Rio is the only injury likely to recover, Seba may have recovered from flu but I'd have him on the bench, maybe to come on in the last 20-30 minutes when the games stretched more.

Also, although this is a key game, win, lose or draw it won't decide the title just yet!

Doesn`t make sense imo. You wrote that rio and becks can`t be 100% fit after a few weeks out. I agree. But how could keano be fully fit after almost 4 months out ?

Stick with the side that has done so well over the last 5 or 6 matches. They're brimming with confidence and have no fear. I can't see the need to rush Becks back, especially 'cos Ole's bin whipping them in a treat!!

Keane has been training in the gym for the past 4 months and is fit (and has a natural fitness according to SAF) its just that he hadn't been able to twist and turn properly so wasn't in full training. If Rio is not 100% fit then I wouldn't put him in against Henry but I would put Silvestre in the middle as he can match him for pace and if Becks is match fit then I'd play him as this is a big match and you nee dyour most experienced players. It'll be tough on Fortune (probably) but its a team game and he has shown enough to get a lot more starts imo.

yeah! that was last weeks match......

;)

From the MEN:
BIG guns Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham and Roy Keane are all back in training for Manchester United.

But it still appears unlikely that any of the three will be fit for Saturday's showdown with leaders Arsenal, despite strong rumours that have been sweeping Manchester all week.

Keane returned to full-scale practice following his hip operation earlier this week and Ferdinand is said to be desperate to prove his fitness after his pulled thigh muscle.

Beckham has told friends he will be fit in "about a week" and appears to be targeting the December 14 clash with West Ham at Old Trafford after recovering from a fractured rib.

Laurent Blanc is another man hoping to be considered, but Fergie - unless he has a few surprises planned for Arsene Wenger - has ruled all of them out of contention.
